Urd looks gorgeous, I think the best industrial design Schiit has done so far. However, as I assume it won't support SACD I'll have to stick with the player I have now.

    What are you using now?

There's always the redbook layer of hybrid SACDs. :)

A Pioneer Elite DV-79avi DVD player that has SACD support. For regular CDs on it I send the data to my DAC, but for SACD I use the internal DAC and analog outs. No SACD support is a deal breaker for me.

My question about the Urd is whether it would work as a "super-decrappifyier" between a USB streaming source and the Unison input on an Yggdrasil. Would the data coming in through the Urd's USB input be processed internally by the Urd to be extra-groovy when it's output to the Yggdrasil's Unison input, or would it just get bypassed directly to the Urd's USB output so there would be no difference vs. just plugging the streamer's USB output directly into the Yggdrasil's Unison input?

Maybe they said something in the livestream otherwise, but I thought Urd would have a usb output.

Definitely there will be a USB input (actually two inputs, I believe). The question for me is how they function. (See my post above.)

To loosely quote Mike, you could connect your streamer to the usb input and a/b against CDs in the Urd.

My understanding from the meet was that the usb inputs are switchable and the Urd allows you to switch between 2 usb inputs and the CD transport. Pretty sweet if you ask me, as most dacs only have one input and this way you can have up to 3 devices connected to one input on you dac and they are switchable to boot.

I wish we could get a shot of the rear of it... I'm assuming also AES output?

Yes. AES and coax SPDIF output (no optical). There was a quick view of it in the video.

The event was an in-person meet that also included doing the livestream.

It's got USB inputs to connect from a computer. No idea how well it will act as a super-groovy-decrapifier.

There's a good chance that Urd to Yggdrasil may be via USB. Once Mike likes an interface, and I know he really likes Unison, then he tends to stick with it. He did the ATT glass thing back the days of Theta. ATT glass sounded better than AES.

It will stack on top of Gungnir.

    FYI, Jason mentioned:
I also need to let everyone know that more price increases are imminent, specifically on Vidar and Aegir. The price of transformers has gone completely nuts. If you're sitting, the time to move is now. I hate being "buy it now!" salesy, but this is reality. I'd rather give you some warning.

Very curious about the Folkvangr, but imagining that with a DNA Starlett and EC Studio Jr in-house, I'm probably set for amps.(Has anyone hard the Folk yet?)

Still, I like the idea of stacking the Gungnir and Folkvangr. That would be an attractive set-up.

Folkvanger goes on sale Monday morning. Mentioning this since it's supposed to be a limited run.

It’s an OTL amp right? However do all the extra tubes run in parallel and allow it to run with low impedance headphones?
