    Thread isn't detailed enough.

Detail kinda bores me. I’d rather have a thread on what musicality is.

Not sure whether this fits the thread or nah but I'm beginning to suspect that macrodynamic impact and decay characteristics might influence my sense of "pace", like how a really poorly amped HD600/650 makes music sound like it's being played immeasurably, but perceptibly, slower.

Phone (LDAC) > Shanling m0 > Solaris has the opposite problem: it sounds weirdly like music is being played faster than I'm used to, but when I'm counting along and really focusing, everything's in place so to speak.

Yea, might be the synergy aspect. Either enough power or more than enough. Of course too much and not enough can be anti-synergy

There is already a thread for this kind of discussion.

Nah, that’s not what I’m talking about. Too semantical and meta. I’m talking about what makes music sound like music and not a distant, sterile, or otherwise artificial sounding reproduction.

Detail is the part you don't hear and don't know is there before your next upgrade. Detail is hearing some small new thing I had never heard before in music that I am ostensibly intimately familiar with. Detail is why I keep spending money, because no matter how much I enjoy my systems, the above still happens.

When that stops I will as well. So probably never.

Being in the right mood. Never heard any gear that can compete with that.

I had a music prof in college who played in bands and said "Some nights we were tired and phoning it in and the crowd was just going nuts. Other times we were playing so well and the audience was completely unresponsive."

    I find it's like that.
