    @Smody,

In the past I found a thread at Volumio forum related to an amazing implementation of a Pi2AES with a display 8.8inch 1920x480.

    https://community.volumio.org/t/diy-streamer-with-volumio-in-standard-43cm-box/44747

In this thread that are a lot of hints to integrate the display. The thread creator, lausiv, is very helpful.

I decided to follow this path and I used the same display with good results. I know that it can be used for peppy meter also in the Volumio environment.

    Interesting threads to consider also:

See below the display that I used.

The output is via Rpi4 HDMI output.

See the picture below of the display support that I developed. It fits well considering the particularities of my rack.

I know that you are interested in Mercury, but I consider that you can use the HDMI outuput with the same results, if you are using the Volumio.

    Hi,

I finished a Project to include the Pi2AES/RPi4 + 24VLPS in a new case, based on the idea of the user Lausiv in another forum.

The Pi2AES responds very well to a better power supply.

I kept an additional HDMI output connector in order to connect the streamer to an i2S DAC or and HDMI output in the future.

@Michael Kelly the Pi2AES is a an excelent product. Thank you very much.

    Best Regards,

Anyone know what DAC option to select for I2S on Audio-GD dacs?

Shipping has begun. All back orders will ship this week or next. Please be aware of the following issue:

NOTE - Due to a part shortage, the pass FET used on the PI2AES-LITE was substituted with a part that drops a higher voltage. Thus the external input might need to be 5.2-5.3V. Please insure your external PSU can output that extra amount. Powering from the PI is not affected. If this is a problem you can cancel your order for a full refund.

Actually we just found a source for the proper part. This will delay shipping a day or two as we make the change. So I may have gotten everyone worked up for nothing! Sorry.

There’s an update on our website. We probably shouldn’t clog up this thread.

Rioght now I have the Pi2AES connected to my Audio-GD R8 MK2 by I2S. I currently have the I2S set to Allo DigiOne. It outputs sound but the left and right channel are switched. Does anyone know what the correct I2S selection is so that my channels aren't switched?

Thank you so much for this guide. I recently got a Pi2AES and this has been the most helpful resource to set it up. Absolutely well written and great explanations. The contribution from others has helped a long way too, especially when I was trying to figire out how to make it a Roon endpoint.

You should change the settings on your Audio-GD DAC, and it will reverse the channels. There are two possible settings for that.
Look for instructions on the site of Audio-GD.

Unfortunately even with the proper part in place the amount of voltage being dropped from the external 5V input is causing the pi 4 to see an undervoltage condition. We’re not really sure what’s wrong with the circuit as we have used it before, but in order to move this project along we are going to remove the ability to use the external input voltage. The board runs beautifully off of the raspberry pi voltage and the ultra low noise LDO parts still insure extremely low jitter on the interfaces.

Obviously, anyone who wishes to cancel their order can do so for a full refund. We are sorry this happened, but it doesn’t make sense to continue to delay the product due to this issue

sorry if this is not the right place to mention this - please let me know if there is a better place for this instead of the Pi2AES thread. I wanted to mention this for people like me who have a PI2AES board but no PI4B to actually get it up and running.

I had been trying for months to get a Pi4B through legitimate sellers at MSRP. It always bothers me to pay extra to grey market resellers as I feel I am part of the problem, by encouraging such resellers to continue buying with bots and creating shortages. I was able to get one today through Adafruit who thankfully have a 2 factor authentication to remove bot sales (before you ask they are sold out again). I was able to do this within a day of having a 2 factor authenticated account so you just need a little bit of patience. I had already tried signing up for supply and restocking updates from at least 7-8 retailers with no success ( in fact I never got a single email that it was restocked from any of them). Maybe it will help anyone else there with this issue of trying to get it from legitimate supplier/seller at MSRP.

Thankfully, I never sold my Pi2AES board!

    Hi,

I am a newbie in this forum. Early this year I was looking to build myself a music streamer and so had decided to sell my SotM SMS-200 Ultra Neo. Am glad that I did as the RPI4B + Pi2AES performs really well beyond my expectation. The Pi2AES complements the RPI4B to a level on par with the SotM at fraction of the cost.

Just like to share a YouTube video on the self-assembled music streamer made of aluminium chassis housing the RPI4B + Pi2AES + Sigma 11 LPS (5V + 24V) + 7.9" Waveshare Touchscreen + Teac CD drive.

    Hope you will enjoy.
