This doesn’t have the ability to not power the pi like older versions?

Fwiw the official Pi power supply isn’t 5v anymore it’s slightly higher.

    @Soul Analog

    Congratulations! Fantastic job.

It is good to see how to build a DIY project around the Pi2AES. The Sigma 11 LPS is a good match for this project also.

I really expect that after the components shortage we are experiencing that the Pi2AES return to production.

    Best Regards,

    QJA

The problem I had is that the 5V input is directly used on some of the AES driver circuits. Anything over 5.3 or 5.4 could potentially damage those parts. It is clearly an engineering failure on my part to not understand this issue more clearly. All my previous designs either had a switching circuit between the input and the 5V rail or took the 5V down to 3.3 and did not use the 5V directly.

Actually we had our 502DAC that allowed external 5Vinput. We had no complaints about it, but I suspect that was because the raspberry pi 3 was much more forgiving of a small voltage drop than the 4.

    Hi,

Thanks for the interest. Please let me first tidy up the connection and cabling inside the chassis. Will share the details inside once it's finished.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was using a SMPS before that and once the Sigma LPS was up and running, the soundstage became livelier and more engaging. Couldn't be happier with the improvement.

There is an updated HW Reference Manual for PI2AES-LITE on our website. It also includes case assembly instructions. Every PI2AES-LITE comes with this case.

All PI2AES-LITE back orders have now shipped. We have a handful in stock and will continue to build that stock up over the next couple of weeks. Typical leadtime will now be 1 to 2 business days after receipt of order.

It sure has been a long time since I’ve been able to say that!

    Hi SBAF Brains Trust

In anticipation on the delivery of my Mercury V2.
Do you think I would need a LPS? And if so, what's a bang for buck unit for about under US$200
In am in Australia and have a 220-240 V and 50 Hz power supply here
Asking now as it will probably have to come from overseas as well OR do I even need a LPS?

    Cheers and Beers

Do you absolutely need LPS then NO
is it good to have LPS with Mercury then YES as it is designed to perform or scale well with LPS.
Now will you notice a difference will depend on the gears you have and the LPS you get
My suggestion would be to start with default power supply and get LPS later

Would this, or another AES>BNC adapter, have any affect on the SQ of a gungnir going into the Pi2AES over just using BNC?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it's a solid idea to try and see it first

Don't have a Pi2AES yet, but it's on my list. Just had another quick question—how, if it's possible (read somewhere this was recently implemented?) is parametric EQ applied in Volumio?

Looks like I figured out how to get to parametric EQ via FusionDSP, but I am still confused on how to input the values. Looks like there's a selection for the type of the filter, but only one input for all values? How do I input freq, gain, Q factor so the software reads it correctly?

Figured it out, if anyone else is interested: hz, gain and q and inputted as a single csv respectively, eg, 200, 2, 0.71; 1200, -3, 1.4

Will the Mercury V2 be able to connect to the Musician Pegasus on the i2s port?[IMG]

    Thanks Michael
Any chance you might offer the Mercury in an acrylic case?

probably not. We did it for the beta because the metal supplier was late.

    but, never say never!

Hi, I have two units - one recently purchased used that I'm trying to set up and am having some trouble, thought I'd throw a question out here to see if anyone else has a similar issue. Seems I can't get the network adapter to initialize, therefore can't get to the software to setup. One my unit that works (with the same network cord) there are 2 lights, a green and red, that are lit on the bottom panel by where the SD card is. On the other unit only the red light is lit. Wondering if that means anything? Other than that I can't tell any differences. Appreciate any thoughts!
