Yah, didn't pay attention to the current requirement. That's a lot.

I’m tired of my RME ADI-2 break out cable having, well, so many cables dangling. I like a clean connector. Are there any cable makers that could make one with just AES only? I just need it to feed my Pi2AES to it.

Yes, Redco are pretty good for this kind of thing, have ordered loads of things from them:

I had this exact issue with the breakout cable for the Sonnet Echo Express SE I, which I use with the Lynx E22. The good folks at Blue Jeans Cable made me a custom cable that is AES only. Just give them the correct pinout, and they’ll build it.

From the Gungnir thread (my DAC stopped working suddenly about 30 mins ago, I changed outlets and it's working now, so I'm guessing it's a power issue):

Does anyone have any recommendations on dependable, cheap power conditioners which also offer fused-or-not surge protection? Any and all subtle SQ increases would be very much appreciated, if I'm going to shell out for a power conditioner, might as well get one that makes my s(c)hi(i)t sound a lil, tiny bit better.

If you're only plugging in the DAC, you can get away with something under 5 amps: Powervar 3.0

I've had my digital front end (P2AES, AudioLab CDT, Yggdrasil) plugged into a $50 used Ebay-bought 5 amp Powervar trafo for several years now and cannot complain one bit.

I bought a cheap pair of JBL 306P Mk!! speakers (details)
These are for background music in workshop or wherever. What's the cheapest Bluetooth DAC w/balanced line outs?

If this is just for background whatever, then you don't need the balanced outs and can get by with RCA->XLR cables unless the dac you're getting is so crappy it has ground gremlins (but a cheapo balanced dac could have the same problem). A cheapo ground loop isolator can also be had for $10 from ebay or amazon, and you can hack the rca output end with an XLR connector.

Hah, maybe the fact that I haven't been playing much of the genre since Project Diva 2 (please don't Google that) came out years ago explains a lot. Yeah it's pretty good fun and a lot of other games integrate rhythm-based elements into em, though it means any amount of latency confounds the experience greatly.

What are people's favorite universal fit earplugs that reduce frequencies (relatively) evenly? I've used a pair of Etymotic ER20 earplugs for over a decade, and it's time to replace them. I take them with me whenever I go somewhere with amplified sound really (concerts, musicals, movies, etc.), as I'm tired of having my experience ruined by loud volumes.

Looks like Etymotic now has a couple models of universal earplugs, the XS and an EtyPlug, the latter which is very similar to the model I have now. I use Etymotic ER4P for my rare IEM use, so no issues with Ety fit.

Looking online generally, including Wirecutter, it seems like people like stuff from Eargasm and Loop (Experience model). Interested in others' opinions. TIA!

I recently got the ER20XS. Wanted to try the dual-flange but they were out of stock. The XS has a bit more even frequency cut, but still cuts more highs than lows. An improvement over the original, but still room for improvement.

Has anyone tried the ZMF crescent snap pad on a Fostex TH-600/900 headband?

Need to move up to Blue V2 for balanced line out. $189, which isn't terrible, but was hoping for cheaper.

If I'm going the powered monitors route would the OG/MkII LSR 305 fit the bill for a small, square room, or is the Kali (developed by JBL engineers) LP6 the go-to recommendation now? I listened to some Adam monitors and found them too bright, and would rather not EQ or be obsessed with toe-in and positioning, want this to be as lazy of a setup as possible and still sound decent.

Kali is maybe a half step up, but the JBL you can get for very cheap on the used market or on sales because they're everywhere... go with your heart/budget.

When I was trying to decide between those 2 (JBL and Kali), my friend suggested I go with the Kali as he said the Kalis had a less rougher treble. It’s just that, the JBL 5 inchers can sometimes be found for slightly less than $200 a pair, in which case, it is a hard value to beat. But I ended up going with a pair of Tannoy Gold 7s. Psalmanar also speaks highly of the KRK S4 series.
