What made you like the iFi most?[/QUOTE]

Worked out of the box. AND :
Optical Lan (Optibox) , DLNA exclusive Mode, integrated NAA , perfect DSD (512x) over I2S , Sound Quality . (added 12 V/3A Sunny PSU (!) Made in Germany ).

B.t.w. Liked Mercury SQ as well .

Denafrips i2s is based on PS Audio standard.

I wonder if anyone can answer this question regarding the new Mercury V2 streamer? The two HDMI outputs, not the i2s, the two HDMI. I know one is for an external monitor, what is the other one for? I am hoping it is like the Node, that it can send audio from the TV to my DAC. Probably not, but it never hurts to ask. Still want to know its purpose. Thanks!

Both outputs can send HDMI video with audio. I have used the first using OSMC, but not sure about the second one as I believe there is some configuration required.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. So in fact that would mean i leave the mercury V2 set as its default. That is ALL in the off position. Sorry, i"m not too techy when it comes to things like this. Maybe mike can confirm.

I think PS Audio swaps the BCLK and DATA

Any comment on the Mercury v2 USB output SQ? Seems it is not on the HAT, so wonder if it is as good as other outputs.

The USB is just a basic port, no special power or filtering. Performance would be completely dependent upon your DAC. Mercury was designed around the PI I2S Interface, not USB.

    Hi Guys,
Very happy user of the Mercury v1 SBAF edition since a while now here.
I did "play" with it a bit in the beginning to find out the best app and way of playing Qobuz easily.
Stopped myself on Volumio on a SD and it sound great but would like now to install it and boot directly from the NVMe SSD to gain on booting speed.
Not a linux freek but knows my way with a Windows pc and impossible to find an easy tuto to achieve that.
Sorry, haven't read all the 55 pages of forum if it's there.
Anybody to point me to this if it exist ?
    Thanks in advance

That will likely not work. It requires the firmware on the module (not the sd card) to be updated. This is possible but requires a special software loaded on the sd card and run. Any hiccup will brick the module inside Mercury. Also from our esrly testing it does not make the NVMe visible to volumio.

    Talking about SSD's

May someone point me in the right direction on how to enable it please?

Using Ropiee XL and I'm a little rusty on ssh sessions through PuTTY

From all the comments, I am a little confused as the whether the Mercury Streamer V2 outputs DSD. I have a denafrips pontus II which has i2S. If I connect the Mercury Streamer V2 to the Denafrips, will I be able to play DSD recordings. Will HQ player work with this?

Mercury will not play dsd directly. It can output dsd over pcm ( DoP). Most DAC’s that support dsd also support DoP. But not always, especially over I2S. The holo DAC’s don’t seem to, but I’m not sure about Denafrips.

I’d like to add that, playing DoP via SPDIF, from the Mercury, sounds quite nice. I switch to this input on my DAC when playing DSF albums.

I recently ordered a Mercury V2 and awaiting its arrival. Am a little confused about use of the internal M.2 2280 SSD drive. I looked at the manual and didn't see installation directions. Is the box easy to open, and you just pop in the drive? What is the maximum size drive you can use. And, will volumio or moode recognize the internal storage or are there instructions you need to follow to format the drive for use with either of these software packages?

I basically followed the instructions given earlier in this thread about mounting the NVME. Only issue I have is SAMBA sharing so I can write/save to the NVME from my Windows laptop on the same network as the V2. I can view and copy from it but not write to it. Seems to be a permission issue between Volumio/Unix and Windows, not a V2 issue.

This may be a question already answered in this thread, if so I looked and could not find definitive confirmation. Does the Jameco 24v which has been recommended as an alternative to the Meanwell able to power both the Pi2AES and Rpi4? Calculating the watts needed for power consumption, it seems like it may be a bit short.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
