I didnt see a thread directly related to alt rock or indie.

I am always looking for new music to listen to. Give me a pitch as to why I should check out this or that.

    Here mine:

    Tame Impala - Currents
Grammy nominated album for Best Alternative Music
Australian psychedelic rock bands 3rd album

Record Store Day offered a Deerhoof re-release and I forgot how much I like this band. Fun, quirky, odd - whats not to like.

Rock is not dead. Bands like Ty Segal and White Lung are smashing those notions with tracks like these. Rock on.

    EDIT: Bonus White Lung track

    cool thread idea.

If you're a fan of ELO, this is a love letter to Jeff Lynne. Their other material is a mix of 70s folk rock/singer-songwriter like CSN, Jackson Browne, Carole King, etc. Also there's some other ELO references and other 70s. Very laid back easy going sound.

Love this new Strokes song. Its been out for roughly a month, but Im really just digging into the new EP. I kinda feel like Julian Casablancas liked his Daft Punk collab and is trying to keep the band current. Hopefully they can produce a whole album this good.

I agree, I've had the EP on repeat, it's just so good. Fun fact for those who may not know, it's called Future Present Past EP, with the 3 songs representing their sound in those time periods, respectively.

I can't stop playing this song. This is stuck in my head all day for the past week or so. Recommend checking this out.

Signed to Matador Records in 2015, Car Seat Headrest is currently on tour presenting material from their latest album Teens of Denial as a full band. Toledo's work is notable for its large online cult following.

CSHR is good stuff. For some reason when I play the whole new album, it gets a little same-ey to me, but overall it's really solid. Vincent is a really kickass song too.

Yea - I do get the same feeling, they have awesome songs, and alot of stuff that gets lost on me.

I notice this a bunch of the more lyric centric bands, Sufjan Stevens borders on this, Mac Demarco, Destroyer - singer songwritrers / acoustic stuff etc. All great music, I just prefer greater instrumental changes. But when a song gets a hold of me I have to listen.

is Crystal Castles indie? This is the first album w/o alice glass. Edith is the new singer and while it sounds like typical crystal castles w/ alice sometimes, she puts her own mark on things and its not just a immitation of alice (which is refreshing). Check out the new album. Awesome mix of electronic / lo-fi / experimental. It works

    My fav track from album

And a second one on the house.

One of my (current) favorite chill songs. Great recording, too.
