What size coin mod did you do? Can you post a picture? Are you using stock foam or are you using the AKG foam? I found that the AKG foam is less fatiguing then the stock foam.

I love the HD650M! I am glad my name caught on.

    Affirmative.

My coin mod ended up slightly bigger than a US quarter. I'll post a pic in a mo.

I think this is the problem. I have a US nickle sized hole. I think any bigger then this causes what you are hearing. I could be wrong but hey, this is a subjective hobby.

Here you go. Stock foam. Wish I'd started a bit smaller tbh.

WOW THAT HOLE IS MASSIVE! All puns and sexual innuendos intended. I'll snap a pic of mine when I get home in an hour or so.

One of my favorite posts in the thread is by @dllmsch. He shared rough measurements of the stock and AKG K240 foam pads with and without coin mods. Gear synergy plays a role here too. Full mod suite was fatiguing with my Valhalla 2, but is not with my T3.

Yeah my supermassive hole was a bit of a surprise as I cut around a 10 pence piece (which is near as dammit the same size as a quarter). I can only guess that I managed to inadvertently stretch the foam whilst I was cutting. Anyway, I'll order some more & use a 5 pence piece next time :).

Btw, using Jotenheim with my HD650 during this whole process.

Where do you get replacement foam?

Not to sure where to get the official stuff is but I did find this.

Big ol' edit: Found this. It looks like it includes the foam.

Sennheiser Australia (and I think UK and Germany too) sell them individually. But not in the States.
The Sennheiser Australia service centre is on my way home from work, and they have two pairs of the foam discs in stock. They are like $1 a pair.
@DigMe If you PM me your address I can post some to you.

Hey, thanks a ton but I don't actually own the 650's yet! I've just been following the mods that I will do when I get some and it's good to know where to get some more foam when I screw up my first pair!

I started with a coin mod on the AKG foam and had that for a while but transitioned and preferred the stock foam without any mods. I think that the AKG foam even with the coin mod is a bit darker than the stock mod in general.

The coin mod makes me a bit nervous, both because it leaves the driver exposed to dust and damage, and because it seems to brighten the headphone (according to what I'm reading).
When I get my 650 I'll probably go stock first, then dynamat, and then rear foam removal. (what's the rear foam mod do again?)

My thoughts as well, I got several pets. I just did the Dynamat mod but didn't touch the foam and will rely on the amplifier choice to open up the sound. Valhalla 2 courtesy of @thegunner100 is coming soon, I'm looking forward to perhaps posting impressions for the first time.

Yes, that includes the foam. I bought a pair of these Genuine Replacement Ear Pads for a used HD580 that I bought recently. (I actually bought mine from amazon.com for $3 USD more than that listing because I wanted them ASAP. But the part number is the same.

Unless you need to replace ear pads, that would be an expensive way to get the foam.

The amazon.com listing reveals the part number for the foam: "Includes the inner foam discs that cover the drivers (part 049789)".

This amazon.co.uk listing for a pair of the inner foam discs that cover the drivers is about $6 USD but the shipping to the USA gets you:

    Items: GBP 3.98
    Postage & Packing: GBP 7.49
    (Order Total: GBP 11.47)
    Payment Total: USD 15.17

I am not finding these on - https://en-us.sennheiser.com/ - the USA Sennheiser site (nor any USA sites when I Google the parts number). I have read that you can sometimes get products that are not listed on https://en-us.sennheiser.com/ if you call them (1-877-736-6434). That is what I would try if I was in the market for these.

I've been addicted to listening to the 650 through the Jot. I've heard gear synergize before, but rarely have I heard gear synergize this well. Short of a time where I have oodles of money to spend on TOTL everything, this could easily be my endgame headphone rig for years. Incredible detail, energy, and control with this pairing.

I get the sense the Jot + HD650 (balanced) combo sounds akin to the HD650 (balanced) off the Mjolnir 1.. anyone who's heard both care to comment?

In my experience the foam and hole stretches a bit when putting on the pads. But it is a rather small amount.
