Mailman brought an Yggdrasil! Ice cold already impressive 3d! Will go to the gym to let this unit warm up further!

I thought you were bringing your Yiggy to the gym for a second.

Am currently awaiting an OG Yggdrasil (a2, unison usb) in the mail. Feel like it is going to bring a lot of potential.

Damn such a lot of great classical performance have distorted recordings, like the dynamic range of the recording is too small

The mics feel like they are gained for the average spl of the piano, not the resonance of a large chord, forte, with a lot of pedal

is it never the microphones clipping?

Yeah but would that not mean that the preamp gain was to hot? I.e. for the SPL of the instrument / room combo at a specific point in time? Or is mic clipping something else?

I had Dekoni pads on my HD800's for a number of years and then reverted to the stock pads recently. Feel it was a good decision.

Indeed roshambo123. Mine came with the dekonis. So this is the first time with the different pads.

If I go by the reviews on this site in my chain the Hugo 2 is holding the Phonitor 2 + HD800s back the most... But HD800s is still impressin

@dncnexus while the Bifrost2 has a full-bodied midrange, its treble is not exactly smooth. It is a better match than the Hugo2, but not the ideal.

I listen to acoustic music and opera almost exclusively (classical 98%). A bifrost would be a good trade in financially haha... I am hesitant towards schitt dacs as I hear they have to be on all the time, however

Unlike the Yggdrasil or Gungnir Multibit, which require a few days to reach their optimal performance, Bifrost2 requires only a few hours.

I can imagi why some people might find the HD800s uncomfortable: I listen acoustic music 95% of the time, but when not, the thing is bright!

For high-frequency hearing loss, one of the best 'phones ever.

It was love at first hearing for me. And it was detail in the bass as much as the highs that made them my /have to have/. Which I now do.
