I'm not arguing that one is more true to source than another. To my ears most things before the dac sound pretty similar on the level of cable differences more or less. But for whatever reason apple music almost sounds tube-y (in a good way). I even hear this in my car with a stock setup.

Pretty sure I dont have any enhancements enabled. Maybe its the device or os and not the service or maybe its more of a bitrate thing than I think. Not sure, just thought it was strange

I think apple music sounds wide and airy, I think tidal was thicker, and spotify was normalish with crushed highs and flat sounding.

Also these are usually run at high volumes to stress the transducer out; distortion characteristics can change with volume, e.g.:
