Any thoughts on older Klipsch speakers, particularly compared to today's Heritage line? Local well cared for KG4 for $400. Oct 15, 2019

KG4s aren't on the same level as any of the Heritage series. They were one model below the Heresy in the late 80's/early 90's. They have better bass than a Heresy but the mids/highs don't compare. But if you can pick them up cheap they could be fun or a decent enough HT speaker. I don't think $400 is low enough to try. Closer to $300 might do it though.

Almost @Hrodulf. Modern PA speakers have the treble horns cranked to push. Some up by 10-12db. That is why they can sound so bad in small rooms close up. At least Heritage Klipsch are mostly flat at 1m. They still roll off fast below 100 and will most certainly need a sub.

The Yggdrasil and ZDS has served me well for almost two years. Kind of sad moving on from them. They both got good homes though.

Had something special with my Gungnir A1 and Sonett 2 setup a couple years ago. Using a Sonett 2 now along with a Bifrost 2. Going to see where this leads me.

Honestly, I'd say the Bifrost 2 is closer in tonality to Gungnir A1 but unison + the improvements are tangible. I suspect if I had them side by side I'd pick the Bifrost 2.

I've seen it before. Doesn't seem to affect anything. Just keep an ear out for sonic anomalies or excess microphonics and EMI sensitivity. But also don't come back to me if I'm wrong and something blows up. :)

Inspected the tube this morning again. Nothing is loose pinging around inside that I can see. It almost sounds like an excessive "tingggg" sound when shaking or tapping the tube. Rattle may of been the wrong descriptor. Lightly tapping the tube when music is playing doesn't bring about any microphonics or other anomalies. Probably still safe not to use the tube though. Don't want it destroying my ZDS.

I'm going to be buying a Tavish Vintage 6sl7 pre from another member here soon, so MC is covered. I've been leaning towards the Denon or the Hana SL if I go big. I was planning to get the regular (original?) 103, should I instead get the 103r? I was thinking about eventually sending the 103 in to get the Paradox or Zu treatment.

I wouldn't worry about it melting the base off or anything, but depending on the material it might crawl its way up the gaps between pins and base, if you get those wet.

Not an issue for alcohol, not sure I'd want deoxit hanging round in there indefinitely! :)

XLR is for long cable runs so what would make the most sense would be the keep the DAC close and then have extra long XLR cables. Of course then you need 2 x 10ft cables over using one digital cable of the same length.

Next, most of the jokes were not really funny. And that one car chase when the girl driving the car that gets blown up just slides down the road still in the seat, still holding the steering wheel? Not funny, and just seems like a poor excuse for a way she survived that. It was too long too. I could never feel emotionally for any character, except possible the antagonist. I thought it was OK, but not great. 6/10.
