        @Soups I'm using an iPhone. Full chain: iPhone + ES100 + Qobuz+ JVC HA-FDX1. Qobuz as a source makes a difference. Bluetooth devices that sounded worse than the ES1000: Fiio Q5s, Sony WMA1, AudioQuest usb devices and many other cheap bluetooth dongles. Am tempted in picking up the new Fiio BTR5 though.

        Accurate. Thing is: no J.S. Bach? If you want to sell me a speaker with bass whatever, I want to hear the organs and/or the cellos at least once.

        Also Japanese Kodo drumming, when well recorded is powerful enough to scare people by the sheer impact of the sound.

      Qobuz has no noticeable normalization, you have to adjust volume depending on albums. @Serious try Pi2AES & Volumio on the cheap, A++.

        My earlier comparisons were on W7, but every since they fixed the DPC latency issues I prefer the sound of W10, so despite the awful input lag I finally switched to W10. Now I seem to prefer Qobuz aswell, might have something to do with that. Might try Roon or MacOS High Sierra that I also have on this PC, but I preferred Windows last time I tried.

        Qobuz seems to sound a bit more open and tighter, more controlled now. Tried some NIN, Daft Punk - Human After All, Eagles - Hotel California from HFO and Porcupine Tree - Trains for now. Downside is it might sound a bit too controlled vs Tidal and still a bit grainy.
        Neither of them hold a candle to JRiver MC25, though.

        Qobuz has no noticeable normalization, you have to adjust volume depending on albums. @Serious try Pi2AES & Volumio on the cheap that to me sounds better JRiver MC 25 or even Schiit unison. Volumio charges $35 a year to allow u to stream from Qobuz and Tidal (not for spotify) so consider that also but it's cheaper than Roon which I have at home but I think sounds the same.

        If any of ya'll are interested in an organized team of plat to master older gamers (30+ and starting to push into the 40s), I'm thinking of putting a band together/the band back together. Probably for the next Open Division season (Jan/Feb next year, I'd guess) since they are just doing a "test" season right now.

        HaHa Did she do that when you wanted a grill? Or anything from Ikea for that matter. In the olden days, all turntables required setup, some a bit more than others. But once done, you just play the music, clean the record, clean the stylus, de-static, etc.

        No she doesn't care what I buy.. but she listens to records. Said it looked flimsy and hard to deal with (that's what she said) and didn't like it. She tried it at the Shitr and said the same and hoped they would improve it. But a hard no on the SOL.

        Also, it's easy to remember some public DNS server IP's:

        Cloudflare = 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
        Google = 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4

        If your corporate DNS is busted, go edit your network settings to specify your DNS server instead of just accepting the ones handed to your computer by DHCP.

        Of course they won't be able to resolve internal-network hosts.

        No caching on individual computers. Modified dns didn't work either. We couldn't get to any common public dns, but we could get to headfi... WTF is what was said. I only go to the "for sale section" of headfi, but the whole site was coming up, un-cached. We had a partial outage of our main sprint circuit and had to re-route everything through our backup but then back to sprint (crazy I know) but it worked.

        A lot of corporate security departments block external DNS services. "Captive DNS" ensures you can't get around their DNS blocking. You just have an edge firewall drop all outbound DNS packets.

        I use it at home to ensure most of our devices are protected from adware & porn, 'cause young kids.
