@Merrick Even with external amp? I can think of a couple that have been impressive, but one device to rule them does seem to elusive. So often the daps line out is better than their integrated amp. I won't by a DX320 but looking forward to impressions!

HD650 is a congested sounding, but JAR660 is a bit mind-bending. Yes, it's a pricey-ish DAP, but to go from Solaris to JAR660 by just switching gain, and be compltely content, if not quite enthralled, is something extraordinary.

Curious about the JAR potential for these.

yeah, this is pure hand-waving, but what the JAR mods appear to do (resonance control taming/moving around even and odd order harmonics, and less ringing) maybe won't do what we'd think it'd do with the healthy sub-bass and bass boost (and slightly twingier treble) in the new driver with a lower FS and lighter voice coil.

This makes sense.

M1S is nice from a size perspective. No idea how its DAC performs without hearing it though. Not running Android should make it more secure (at least in an obscurity way), but you won't be able to install any aftermarket software on it, which is kind of a deal breaker for me.

Is the M1S a thing? I went on a deep dive trying to find out more - it looks like it's still in pre-production?

The ipod was such a revelation for me. Before it I was a guy carrying around a backpack full of CDs at all times. Shit was heavy, yo! iPod upgraded my life bigtime.

I was lucky enough to be able to retire with a decent pension in my early 50s. I can live happily ever after on that, but I'm also young enough I don't mind doing some part time contract work from time to time to contribute to my toy budget. Totally different world when you don't really HAVE TO work, and can do so strictly on your own terms.
