Was this the motherboard burnout you mentioned to me a while ago?

CPU and mobo burned out, so it was over $1k to fix in total. There goes my hopes for a graphics card upgrade this year.

I assume they weren't under warranty since it cost you that much. What did you replace them with?

Replaced the mobo with another Rampage V, cpu was replaced with a 6850k, replaced the cooler with a corsair h100i v2. The Noctua cooler I got to test stuff was fine, but I needed needed access to that first PCIe x16 slot that it covers because of it's size.

What games? Pick anything good up during the BF deals?

I was playing dota2 and civ5. Played some civ6, confirmed I still hate it and moved on.

I started with the x99 platform, and stuck with it. I run some other things on this computer via VMs, so the extra threads are useful. I will say that the slower clock speed versus my old 4790k from a couple years ago actually caused a minor decrease in performance for games, but not enough for me to get upset about
