Modi Multibit loaner [AU/NZ]

Marv has agreed to put up some money to fund a couple of loaner tours in AUS and NZ. If you're interested in hearing the Modi Multibit, sign up in this thread. We will split the costs of trans-Tasman shipping between us.

A reminder that the loaner programs are a privilege usually reserved for Friends and Contributors. If you are otherwise, and there is room on the tour, we will need someone to vouch for you or to in some other way verify your identity. A contribution to SBAF is a good way of doing this.

Current status: tour completed!

Tour instructions:

• Five days per person. That means you ship it out to the next person after five days, so make contact with the next person on the list as soon as you receive the loaner to sort things out.
• Post in this thread when you receive the loaner and when you are sending it on. Post impressions to the main Modi Multibit thread.
• Unless you can arrange a local handover, ship AusPost / NZ Post, tracked but WITHOUT extra insurance. Instead pay US$5 to the SBAF loaner insurance fund by donating to the usual SBAF address. Include your handle and the name of the loaner tour.
• Trans-Tasman shipping is a bit more and it seems reasonable that we split the cost between us. I suggest that myself, @Stride, @Xecuter pay AU$5 to @Olor1n and that @Untilted, @Alaarx, @JewBear pay NZ$5 to @mawk to cover this.
• The Modi will be up for sale after the completion of the tour. If you are interested in buying it, PM me with an offer.

If this unit is being sent from the US, is there any chance of it doing a layover in Taipei on the way back to SBAF HQ?

 

Unfortunately, the plan is for this to tour Australia/NZ and then resell on the local market (which is pretty buoyant) rather than heading back to the US. Will PM you with further thoughts.

I'm keen to hear the Modi Multibit if it's making its way to Wellington. Great to see Oceania loaner programmes get the green light.

 

Are we allowing randos on this list? I thought it was only friends + contributors?

 

That is correct - the Randos on the list are also recent contributors (I'll confirm this).
This is now ordered and should be here in the next week or so.

 

Very interested in hearing the Modi MB, however, i am currently Rando.

OK, after some hassle around with FedEx (who it transpires will not deliver to a post office address) I finally have the Modibit loaner in my hands. Everything seems to be in one piece. I will be passing it on to @Stride on Friday. Check the first post for instructions (these may evolve).
