No refurbs popped up last week :( I bit the bullet and just got the full deal. After watching videos to compare noise levels between encore and virtuoso, I have no regrets.

hey so i have too many grinders and the tax man was particularly f'ing brutal this year and i'm still in recovery mode. i don't want to sell any of my grinders (good to have scattered around hah) but if anyone is interested in a feldgrind by knock lemme know. its a f'ing sweet grinder made by a genius scottish designer. i could post in the FS forum but its something only coffee nerds will care about so thought i'd post here first. just PM me if you want it or whatever.

Bulletproof coffee is something you guys can try. I usually can't drink coffee but bulletproof coffee with its low mycotoxin beans is the most amazing coffee I ever had. I tried making bulletproof coffee with other coffee beans and it ain't the same I usually get an headache from using other coffee beans.

I have been drinking bulletproof coffee for two weeks now.

I make my bulletproof coffee with grass fed butter, brain octane and l-theanine.

How has your appetite been since drinking your buttered coffee? Have you lost any weight?

FYI - the alleged health benefit claims of bulletproof coffee have been thoroughly debunked. Especially the mycotoxin BS. Whether you enjoy it or not as coffee is a different topic but let's not mix the two.

    What hand grinder @brencho ?

So, I mentioned coffee subscriptions earlier in this thread. I'm going to be getting a subscription to MistoBox this summer for my birthday. I'll keep everyone updated and let you know how it goes.

In b4 the wipe. Barnine's Hachira is really f'ing good.

"Hachira, one of our favorite coffees year after year, is coming on for a limited release beginning next week. This coffee brings deeper red fruit and purple fruits to the cup. Laden with elderberry, with rich and juicy body. This is an exceptional taste, and for those that tried it with us this year, is smaller batch and finer quality production of Tawo Mok, which was one of the best selling coffees we've ever had. We're taking orders for next week now, and we'll be shipping this gorgeous coffee to our Home Subscribers next Wednesday."

"This profile brings deeper red fruit and purple fruits to the cup. Laden with elderberry, with rich and juicy body, Hachira can be brewed by many methods to highlight its intense flavor.

    Tastes elderberry, blackberry, red apple"

so I started aeropressing at work. I don't mind the hand grind w/ skerton, but I just don't won't to start pissing people off. Is the lido that much faster?

I'm not sure if it will be faster, but the grind will certainly be better. How long does it currently take you, because it will probably take about twenty seconds to grind it on the Lido? However, the Lido WILL get you noticed at work and will draw about ten times more attention than the Skerton, so if low key is what you're going for, you may want to stay away.

Lido is faster than the shitty $20 hand grinder that I bought a while back. I'd say it's about 20 seconds vs what used to be a minute.

I think it is faster but definitely easier. Most importantly though the grind quality will be way better.

I had a really refreshing coffee-based drink at a local coffee shop this evening. (http://www.sanfranciscocoffeeroastingco.com/).

Very simple: their house cold brew (chilled), sparkling water, a little bit of vanilla, and a lemon wedge. Poured over ice.

Just bought a Yama coffee siphon and it is the absolute best cup of coffee I've ever made. In the headphone world we'd call it neutral. So much body and still full flavor. Winner.

Boiling the water, grinding, to cup poured entire process only takes about 5 minutes. Just awesome. Looks handsome on the counter top and it's a pretty theatrical experience.

I love the siphon pot, but I'm not sure I'd call it neutral. A siphon pot usually emphasizes sweetness in a coffee while giving it a very smooth presentation.

@CEE TEE and I are always making coffee to sound analogies, so maybe he can weigh in. I'd probably vote for Chemex on the neutral scale.

The thing with grinding is the more consistent the grind, the more distinct the individual flavors become. I use a Lido E, which is really neat, but probably 5x overkill... and it costs $180. There are two inexpensive alternatives that provide more uniform grinding than the Porlex or Skerton:

    1. The Kuissential, which is a modded Hario Skerton ~$35

    2. The Handground Precision, which is a poor man's HG-1 ~$80

After trying all the usual suspects for brewing (non-espresso) coffee, I have become a dyed-in-the-wool Aeropresser. I think it provides the most accurate presentation of the flavors in the coffee, especially with a temp controlled kettle and a quality grinder.

If you buy a Kuissential then make sure you get the Evengrind model. They also make a model that is pretty much the same as the Skerton.

Personally I've never felt like I get as good flavor out of an Aeropress as I do with V60 when it comes to natural Ethiopians.

I wasn't all that excited about the Aeropress until I started brewing at 175 degrees. Night and day different than using boiling water...
