I spent spend the weekend with the zx100. I get the Sony love now. It has an organic, smooth bit detailed sound that seems to match all of my iems better than x5iii or cayin n5. The sound stage is not closed in like x5iii. The x5iii has more power, but sounds congested and uneven. It also lacks the details of the zx100.

Edit: going all weekend without having to charge the battery 4 Times was heavenly.

The V2+ is no longer in production. It has been replaced by the GO2Pro. The 2A is still in production though. The GO2Pro can be operated by USB power (bypassing the battery) like the 2A.

"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

There was a time when I wanted some sort of GO, as on paper, they ticked a lot of boxes, and got good reviews for sound quality. The insane muddle of models* and the online store that apparently didn't actually have any for sale at any point rather put me off. That was before the misery over firmware, bricking, awful warranty service and everything else, too.

I feel like I dodged a bullet, even though I ended up buying a bloody Mojo (as they were actually on sale). At least that resold quickly once I found something better.

*try saying that three times quickly

Anyone that can comment on the iBasso dx200? @Galm @Mimouille I saw that the amp4 is about to be released and there are quite a few firmware mods for the player, looks highly customizable and a good all in one. I'm finding that commuting in Paris with my wm1a isn't the most ergonomic and i also like to listen to podcasts before work.

I wasn't a big fan. It's very Sabre-y... So the treble was artificial and fairly harsh. The amp was strong enough to drive my iems easily enough, but it just didn't sound that good.

    I would use a WM1A if I didn't need Tidal.

I only had amp 1 but this player sounded lifeless and emotionless to me...the lastest amps could be different.

Any input on the lower level Sony DAPs? Looking at the NW-A35. Comparing this as an option next to the Cayin N3 and Fiio X3 iii. Other suggestions are always welcome, but I'm not looking to spend a lot.

Need something to drive my Pinnacle P1 on the go, and bluetooth is important for streaming in the car. I'm a tad concerned with power since this isn't the easiest IEM to drive.

There I was getting ready to sell the smoothie Fiio X5 III as there was pretty good deal on amazon for the ZX300. Seems better to wait for more impressions from the usual suspects before making any decisions.

Couldn't find anything substantial in this thread, but is there anyone that has compared the NW-ZX1 to the NW-ZX2?

I've been bouncing back and forth between either a ZX100 or a ZX2, but I really want streaming so it's probably going to be a ZX2.
The prices though for even used are at the very edge of what I want to spend right now, so I was looking at the ZX1 as well.

Anyone know how much of an improvement the ZX2 or even ZX100 is over the ZX1?
Are there just very small incremental improvements, or is it not even worth it to consider the ZX1 at it's current prices?

I have the P1s and the Cayin N3 as my daily commute companion. I do not have much to compare with, but the N3 powers them really well in high gain. Nothing sounds missing in the frequency range.

I tested the A35 in a Sony store with the P1s and it was just not powerful enough. More sensitive IEMs would be fine but I feel an amp would need to be banded to drive the power hungry P1s.

To my ears the P1s sounded more closed in on the Sony. The Cayin is not spacious but it is better to my ears.

Thanks for this, I have been contemplating to sell my ZX2 (paired wonderfully with EX1000). I guess I will wait for more impression.

That's possible reason, though I have heard that Sony improved their DSP starting from WM1A?

There's really no need for any of the Dsp hocus pocus Sony puts on their DAPs. Upscaling lossy files? Please...

Will go give it a try (and ensuring Direct Sound is enabled bypassing their wack DSPs) tomorrow since Singapore has units available.

Well Direct Sound or not sounds the same if you don't have anything on. The eq works quite well! @Grahad2, I heard the SE is gimped again compared to the balanced ><.

Please do, the ability to have both portable USB DAC and DAP at the same time is what entices me to ZX300
