Some of you guys have probably already seen this, but this was presented to me (as I am mostly objectivist) by a mostly subjectivist friend as a "video showcase / proof" of what amazing totl speakers are.

So they look kinda weird but whatever. Ofc no measurments. Supposedly they sound absolutely amazing. Materials are sure enough top notch. I was impressed. Then I looked at the comments section on youtube and had a laugh of my life. Partly due to the fact how stupid of me it was to be so easily impressed. Forgive me if it's a repost (did a search on sbaf, didn't find a thread already submitted), wanted to share this with you all. Do read the comments, it's hillarity

I don't presume to know enough about horns to say if the speakers are actually really good or snake oil shit, and don't want to insult anyone, but these comments are pure internet gold

    Wow this one comment...

"Using vinyl with a $300k speaker system is a dead giveaway. Vinyl has a 55 dB Signal/Noise ratio - With a pure test tone.
Digital has 120 dB S/N. Again, purity of source plays a big role with digital versus analog. Vinyl does not have the performance quality unless the source is so poor that the noise ratio is inconsequential due to poor source quality.
Note: If you can't measure it, you can't hear it. An audiophile.....

There are uneducated comments, naturally... but probably my favorite one:

"This towel is not just a towel. You see, this towel was handcrafted by professional towel makers who have in fact been making towels for much longer than any other towel maker. Its the simplicity, the quality, and the time we put into each and every one of our towels that makes this towel so hard to produce. One could not distinguish the vast array of differences a regular towel has when compared to my towel as its impeccable in design, beauty, and performance outshines any ordinary towel."

Personally I couldn't even make it through the video.

"Sound waves can't be miniturised, that's just physics"

"All our components are top quality, aerospace level stuff"

Damn, I knew the astronauts had some nice photography equipment up there but I didn't realize they were also rocking the high-end audio equipment.

Nothing screams high tech aerospace cutting edge top of the line outer-space exploration kind of stuff quite like vacuum tubes.

Seriously? Luxury high-end company with ORFAS clients and we're getting bent out of shape over dubious marketing claims in a f'ing Bloomberg paid advertisement?

    I've never heard of Bloomberg.

    I guess that's a good thing.

they mostly make left-leaning rich people feel better about their conspicuous consumption and gloat about owning Apple stock.

It's like Consumer Reports writing about an Alfa Romeo 4C.

For a moment, when the video shifted to wood, rock slabs, and power tools, I thought this guy was making kitchens.

EDIT: Hey!!! @Melvillian thought of kitchens too with that video!

I meant it's obvious these OMA guys are a bunch of money grubbing snobs, so who cares that they make some over priced gear? Why waste bandwidth on some sort of r/audiophile-style "outing"?

Or should we post links to $5k Audioquest cables being reviewed on Amazon?

It's youtube's bandwidth, I'm sure they're sad as we waste it. Also, if you're low on bandwidth, maybe FCC can help you there. Hell, I'll ask Ajit myself to give you a discount. If you mean sbaf's bandwidth, that's a couple kilobytes at best there. I'll buy Marv a beer. I PROMISE.

See, all is under control, why so upset :)

    Edit:
I appologize if I've offended you somehow. From the bottom of my heart. The very rock bottom. -140dB. Jude can measure it.

Real talk tho, I'd love to hear the https://oswaldsmillaudio.com/black_knight
Triode strapped 807 tubes, ya that's sounds like a dream. I've always wondered why there aren't more 807 amps out there.

807 triode strapped SET would probably sound even better too.

That would be your twelve-inch, granite, kitchen counter top, right?

It will probably sound great until some idiot lets the milk boil over onto it

    :D
