I've really enjoyed Badlands National Park in South Dakota. It's an understated landscape compared to many of the western parks, but has it's own quiet beauty. There is an abundance of wildlife and the wide open space is a nice change of pace from the forested environments I frequent in northern MN. I tend to go during the "off season" when visitation is very low. Here are a few photos that I made last year (please pardon the heavy imgur compression/softness):

Not a national park, but the Adirondack state park is pretty nice. I'm there now doing some Nordic skiing.

If I had to choose a single place, it would be the Dolomites, chosen for beauty, accessibility, and the food.

The only thing it's lacking for me is a sense of of remoteness, Nepal or the Scottish Highlands are great for that.

Best ones in my opinion are in USA. I have visited Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Monuments Valley, Death valley, Arches, Canyon lands, Joshua Tree.

In Estonia most of the national parks consists lot of swamps and bogs and they look quite similar, some example images:

I lived at the edge of the George Washington national forest for 7 years, very nice hiking in there, and mountain biking if that's your thing. The mountains don't get very high, I think 4,000ft is the tallest, but they are nice old, scenic forests.

I've not been to many in the States, but Yosemite would be my favorite.

    Wilson's Prom in Australia.

New Zealand takes the cake though - just about anywhere is incredible. Arthur's Pass, Mt Cook (and the two lakes nearby), the entire stretch of the Western Coast. Tops would probably the Mt Aspiring / Wanaka / Queenstown / Glenorchy region in Otago - I'm not ashamed to say that I was almost reduced to tears by the sheer beauty of nature there.

I have a soft spot for the Scottish Highlands, particularly the Cairngorns. Unfortunately, they all too often look like this (but I still love 'em)....

I just came back from a trip to northern Italy. It's still my favourite, reliably beautiful*, place for hiking.

The tunnel in the first photo, and the ruins in the second photo, are parts of abandoned military fortifications from WW1. Besides being a visually stunning area with great food, it's a bit sobering to think that a hundred years ago Austrian and Italian soldiers were shooting at each other here.

    * There are places that I have found more spectacular, but are harder to get to or have really unreliable weather. I'm looking at you, Scottish Highlands.
