Fans supporting the franchise for decades is the only reason TLJ was ever made in the first place. If, after years of that support, Kathleen Kennedy wants to let Rian Johnson arbitrarily shred the tenets of that franchise then of course they/we are going to complain. I’m hard pressed to think of another major franchise that has disrespected it's fans the way Kennedy and Johnson have.

Had Harry Potter fans shown up to the 8th installment of that film franchise for a dose of philosophy wrapped around a nonsensical plot featuring a Dumbledore proclaiming that Hogwarts is a sham... well...

We asked for a movie that made sense. It's not unreasonable.

If you wanted to leave those things a mystery, you did not have to watch the movie. They are nothing but fictitious stories.

Most of the allure of SW as a whole of the original trilogy is the combination of Epic story and the mix of western in a Sci Fi setting. They also pushed the boundries of special effects by using conventional methods to suspend our belief.

But you do have a point. There was never any movie explaining how Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn got his eye patch, or one that explained what the Doc was actually doing between 1955 - 1985. Maybe some things are better left up to movie mystery.

And yet what about the fans like me who loved The Last Jedi? TLJ wasn’t the movie I was expecting, it wasn’t the movie I thought I wanted, but it was the movie I didn’t know I needed.

And again, I explicitly said people should be able to discuss the films and what they did and didn’t like. What bothers me is when people make it personal to the filmmakers and storytellers, attacking individual people personally.

In my head canon for the Alien franchise, Prometheus and Covenant do not exist. But I don’t wish personal harm on Ridley Scott.

And again, just to be clear, I’m not talking about specific people here, but the fandom in general.

Agreed, but at least those films didn't waste the last opportunity to see Sigourney Weaver as Ripley.

...and just for the record, I'm posting a lot on this I know, but I'm not taking it to seriously. It's all good man.

Probably the closest I’ve gotten to that feeling of hating a particular filmmaker has been watching Zack Snyder ruin the DCCU, but at the end of the day I have a gazillion comics and several great already existing Superman and Batman movies to enjoy.

    Well, theoretically, imagine this:

Snoke - ancient valkorion/vitiate/tulak hord + plagueis type character - basically very, very resilient semi immortal evil force spirit that's stupidly powerful, but needs massive war to wake him up / revive him, and it was him that almost made luke mad, and corrupted ben, want's to use war as means to kill the entire galaxy to make himself a god
clone wars woke him up, but it wasn't enough

for some reason, mind influence won't work as well on the girl, and she op as f**k
    - there's another spirit (revan/daughter/anakin/obiwan, or so) that's protecting her, but it's not as powerful

snoke is the reason why republic never actually "won", he needs war to rage, it feeds him

ben and rey together managed to hurt snookie, but it fell out, and snookie still has influence, but has to find/make another body or so

insert some way to halt/stop snookie that's not too stupid, requires the two of them together
(for example, that "first jedi" character that's balanced, it was actually 2 people, dark and light, that in ancient times sealed snookie)

resistance is in desperate need of reinforcements, and, out of the blue, a millenium falcon (that female droid's sentience is in that ship) led free-droid alliance willfuly comes to help them or something like that

luke, now a force ghost is no longer under his influence

holdo didn't tell poe because there is an actual first order spy that causes massive problem in the movie, now it makes sense (maybe kills Leia)

the hyperspace torpedo - insert some mega issue for everyone because of this, and that's why it was never done before since the old republic

do these things, you arguably sort of fix the main problems, and introduce the elements from old republic, in which a new rumored trilogy can be set.

    -btw, check these guys out

those kind of people are what I consider to be SJW's, just so you have some semblence about whom I talk about. The real warriors are people like Morgan Freeman, etc.

Found this pretty interesting review of TLJ

One of the most ambitious films I've seen lately is By the Time It Gets Dark. Another one that similarly dazzled me, but an older film, is The Intruder.

I actually didn't see the movie, but somehow I know things. Cannot elaborate more, but close friends may know about my Force powers.

Don't worry about how Rooster Cogburn got his eye patch. Shortly after True Grit (John Wayne)*, they made a sequel or was it a prequel?

I'm sure one of the studios will make a movie about the earlier adventures of Pike Bishop, Dutch Engstrom, and Deke Thornton (when he was with the gang instead of tracking them down). Except it won't be with William Holden** and Ernest Borgnine. It will be with fresh faces that kind of sort of can emulate them, but only after extensive acting lessons during production.

*Hey, at least they got someone awesome to take the same role in the Coen Brothers remake, which is arguably superior to the original.

**Bill Holden is fricking awesome. Makes Tom Cruise look like a p***y.

Snyder is definitely a hack. I don't know how he was able to talk WB into letting him take the reins of the DCEU movies.

Still scratching my head how directing 300 qualifed him. And how he screwed up DC given the wealth of excellent pre-existing material from the 50s to the fairly recent stuff from Grant Morrison.

Rorschach is hands-down my favorite "superhero" character of all time. (I liked both the book and the movie.)

You know the movie is a failure when music by John Williams fails to elicit any memorable moments in the film. Tbh, I probably would have been baffled to even compose anything to the disjointed narrative in tlj. Listening to the tlj ost feels flat and could be an afterthought.
