I think it is only right to support our favorite community financially. It is a mass responsibility (other than the admins, of course). And with more people's support, individual amounts won't break the bank at all. Maybe a few less starbucks.

Someone mentioned some kind of privilege tied to the donation amount. I think that is a great idea.

I think every forum has its own bias. I don't post a lot but I have been around since Changstar and even from back then it is obvious that Schiit products got more positive and/or forgiving reviews. For example immediately during the launch of Ragnarok or Jotunheim reviews were very positive and it was hard to find more objective views. Only after a couple of months and the "hype" died down and it will be possible to find a more balanced impression. At this point of time usually the people who initially gave too positive review will temper down their view to a more reasonable level. Is it "sponsored reviews" or new toy syndrome? Only God knows.

The one problem I have with reviews is when it is representing the seller, as you mentioned "sponsored reviews". Basically it is an advertisement board masked as a review. I notice there is very lack of that in this forum.

Every review is, in the end, subjective since audio has that subjective part of it and people have their biases. New Toy Syndrome' or 'Favorite Brand Syndrome' can definitely get to everyone, even senior members. I have no problem with that. Just like you said, gotta let it cool off a bit.

I thought even Psalmanazar, no matter how biased he was, was very insightful with his impressions.

I liked Psalm, OJ, HMF, etc. They provided particularly critical insight. I held out from banning them for the longest time. I finally had to accede. Lessons from CS.

There is another ongoing thread more suited for this topic. Going to lock this one.
