    Jason,

I don't see any problem with you guys not saying that is okay to open your products. The problem would be if you said that opening your products would cancel the warranty. As that would be illegal according the the FTC. I have no idea if saying that there are "no user-serviceable parts inside" violates any warranty laws and I don't really care. Like I said, you are a smart guy and cancelling a warranty for simply opening a Schiit product would go against your business philosophy.

This is kind of old news... I remember earlier this year Sony, Nintendo and MS got in trouble with the FTC because they didn't update their warranty info. This law is pretty recent. It's a good law and I like anything that gives the consumer more rights. That's how it should be. That being said Jason said himself basically that they'll repair anything even if modded... case closed?

Want to see an amazing warranty? Check this out.

I think we should all go submit FTC complaints about this company. hehehe...

No, I did not. If the mods broke it, like in the case of the Mjolnir, the warranty doesn't apply. It's all spelled out in our warranty. However, like I said, I don't think we've ever denied a warranty claim for simply taking the product apart.

Can we move on from this very tedious subject?

Thanks for weighing in to clear the air Jason. We can't talk about politics on here, so yeah there really is no other news to talk about (at least if you look at the news websites!)

Let's remember what started this discussion. Now we know it is okay to open your Gungnir Multibit to see what parts are used inside. However, if you think you might return it under the 15 day evaluation offer, I would not open it until you decide to keep it. That's only fair to Schiit.

Is Topping Chinese? We acquired a Chinese company that had hundreds of employment contracts, which disturbed us because it was going to be a chore to comply with whatever the company promised so many different people. Then we got the contracts and they were nothing like you would see in the U.S. Nothing in them was to benefit the employee. Instead, it was mostly a list of the amounts by which the company could and would dock their pay: missing inventory, tardiness, insubordination, etc.

Again, I did not say that. It is not OK to open it up. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

What I said was very clear--that I don't think we denied any warranty simply on the basis of opening it up.

    Again, can we move on?

Okay. I mean youd have to be a bonehead to try to get it repaired under warranty because YOUR mod broke it. I kind of assumed that would fall under anything like user inflicted damage, like spilling coffee inside the unit.

Say I installed a fancy pants new fuse inside my Yggdrasil. Then a month later it borked (let's just say in this example it wasn't the mod that made it bork) You'd repair it, no? In that situation, where I did my own mods and nothing was wrong or broke, I figured I'd be good to go warranty wise if anything did happen (god forbid) to my Yggdrasil.

My Yggdrasil has been going strong for 10 months now. If anything, if it did stop working after I installed a fancy pants new audiophile grade fuse, I'd say it would have actually been my mod that made it break :p

Ps. I'm not interested in mods at all. I'm just curious about this. I didn't think a whole new thread would be made and Jason himself would post!

We have serviced products with audiophile fuses in them, and yes, sent them back with audiophile fuses in place, as long as they were the right value. If the product was smoked and the fuse didn't protect the product, then the outcome might be a voided warranty. I can't predict everything we might do. We are humans around here, and typically will bend over backwards to help our customers.

Let's just move on, for the love of god. Isn't there some fun conspiracy theory to talk about?

Jason it's simple. Just drop us a new product announcement so the feeding frenzy can move over to that thread. See what happens when you slow down on rolling out new Schiit? :D

Oh believe me, we are a couple months late on something I really wanted to happen earlier. This one was a victim of the global parts shortage, but it's coming soon.

I am not trying to be a dick here but you are not being reasonable with that statement. By law, it is indeed okay to open up Schiit products regardless of your claim that there no user-serviceable parts inside. For example, you cannot require a customer to send a product to Schiit to replace a fuse. That is illegal according the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act.

Jason - Thanks for clearing things up. I look forward to further enjoying the evaluation period comparing my DS Gungnir to MB Gungnir. Thanks again for the great products and innovations. Also, yes.. we're this bored around here currently.

Or that's exactly what people do. Like the guy that stuck 6 or 8 tubes in his Feliks Elise (christmas tree) and returned it under warranty when it inevitably blew up. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/feliks-audio-elise-new-thread.782754/page-803#post-12664776

I think he even documents his warranty return on headfi, but that may not exist anymore.
