She looked tired there. It seems you picked the correct time to do it. Take solace in that at least. Its a tough balancing act between keeping an animal alive for your benefit, and ending their pain. Many condolences...

 

Here's my kitty Lola, took this last weekend. She's nineteen years old and she has been an indoor/outdoor cat her whole life. She used to roam pretty far, I would see her on the other side of my parents sizeable neighborhood, but these days she rarely crosses the street or leaves the yard.

 

She's a beaut! looks great for 19.

 

Thank you. She is still a pretty girl. Especially considering how much time she spent outside scrapping with other cats and dogs when she was younger. She was about 2x the size she is now and about 25lbs of fury. She is very slow and stiff these days and can't sit all the way down on her back legs. My parents don't think she will make it through the winter but they've been saying that for 3 years so who knows.

 

@LetMeBeFrank - Gorgeous cat. Love all pets, but have been a kitty owner myself for most of my life. My last little one lived to early 20s. I wish you two many more good years together.

 

@Jinxy245 - my condolences at the great transition for your furry companion. You gave her a great home.

Seriously... Do birds and headphones mix? Even budgerigars can do quite a lot of damage to soft materials.

Not if I don't pay enough attention to her. Get distracted and I end up with impromptu litz wire soldering practice.



Most of the time though she stays occupied with the slip covers I put on the armrests and top/back of my desk chair or she crawls inside my undershirt and chews the collar off. Conures are actually very cuddly.

Lately she's been flying up and walking around on top of my monitors so I just bought some thin plastic to make gutters to keep her from pooping in the vents on the back.

She's basically like a flying toddler with a pair of wire snippers so a degree of bird proofing is necessary in my home office.

 

And she's already 10 years old too. If she's lucky she could live another 20.

I wonder if she'll ever grow up and mellow out some. When she's in a good mood her cuteness makes up for it, but when she's in a bad mood she can really raise hell.

Here's my OCD (obsessive compulsive doggie) who is quite convinced she can get a chipmunk if she puts in enough effort.
