Yeah, SSD prices have been dropping. Thing is do you wait to see how much they drop further next year or do you do BF now. The struggle is real.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a 2TB NVMe deal. Let's see.

That T5 deal is decent. First portable SSD with trim.

Big focus I see right now is 500gb/1 tb SSD's. But we have another five days until Black Friday then Cyber Monday. Alot of folk deciding whether to bust a nut now or blue ball it until then.

My wild ass guess is we see maybe another 10% on top tier drives like Sammy, westy, sanny and crucie. I expect another drop mid January. EDIT: There is a slight oversupply problem and new die sizes will come in January or thereabouts.

Best low prices for BF and CM will probably be other tier makers with prices maybe another 10% off the top tier guys, but no more.

One more thing to consider, at least in the US. Starting Jan 1, the tariffs go from 10% to 25% on many items we care about. My guess is that increase will be passed on to the consumer. It quite possible BF sales will be on items in inventory before Tariffs went into effect.

Hopefully we can avoid and not talk about the politics of the tariffs; there are many other places on the internet for that. I am just pointing this factual change in the tariffs to potential buyers of imported goods.

There are many factors on how the tariffs might be applied, but it unlikely prices will go down and highly likely prices will go up. Might want to take that into account when deciding on a purchase.

I don’t know about lossless specifically but licensing for intangible things like software, music, movie downloads tends to be less expensive in other parts of the world so I wouldn’t expect great deals from BF unless you’re already paying close to regular prices from a US perspective now.

I looked at the first tariff list and nothing was on it that I might consider buying. Did another list come out that includes ssds, for example? Even our precious HD flat panel tvs are not on the list.

Look in the 85xx.xx.xx range. Power supplies, printed circuit boards, video screens, magnets, electric sound amplifiers, loudspeaker parts, receiver or amplifier tubes, the list goes on and on.

The tariff might not be on the SSD specifically, for example, but some or all the parts to make the SSD may be taxed. Quite complicated.

    Shit like
    • Parts (other than printed circuit assemblies) of electrical machines and apparatus, having individual functions".
    • Insulated electric conductors nesoi, for a voltage not exceeding 1,000 V, fitted with connectors
Who the hell knows what that means. These are just samples. I don't really care what they actual mean. There are hundreds of items the list. Lots of computers DIY sites are warning of price increases. Might just be a little henna penny activity, but there is probably some truth.

    YMMV

I disagree! nothing on that list relates to ssds. and all the tv stuff and circuit board crap are not commonly used in built here consumer stuff. Yes, some parts will hurt some manufacturers, but they purposely did not include tvs, computers or cell phones. Now a number of other sectors could get slammed. my mileage does vary :D

Thanks for the reminder about tariffs. Looks like I need to get my new computer built sooner vs later... or at least get parts.

Thank goodness everything on my pending audiostuff list is made elsewhere... although I wouldn't be surprised if there was some cost increase due to components being from China.

Now to be that guy: Do any audio dealers or companies do black friday or cyber monday sales? Ex I see bottlehead has 15% off.

Dang. ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers, Black (Pair)
$149 for the pair from Amazon, new.
    https://smile.amazon.com/ELAC-Debut-Bookshelf-Speakers-Black/dp/B07B4Q5587

I have the first gen in my living room for occasional listening, and they are pretty good. I have no problem recommending these at $270 to someone that wants to move up from real crap. At $149 this is quite a good deal. Throw a $148 Sony STRDH190 or a $120 Yamaha R-S202BL and someone could have a great started system.

15% off coupon (PICKFAST) on Ebay US (must use mobile app). Good until 8PM EST.

Monoprice also sells on Ebay so I got a Liquid Platinum for $100 off.

EDIT: I see @elwappo99 already tipped this off in the LP thread. Great time to pick up a great amp.

They also are selling the Spark at $99 w/ free shipping. Coupon code makes it $85 (before tax, if applicable.)
