I bought this nice Vidar amplifier from @Ray last month, was using this amplifier to drive HE6. After I saw the post from jexby about destroyed his HE6 by wrongly set pre-amplifier volume level, I'm a bit worried about using a speaker amplifier for headphone.

Price is $500 cash to me and local pick up at SF Bay area because recently I'm really lazy to ship an item.

For photos and more details, please check my usaudiomart listing,

Always turn volume completely down when disconnecting/connecting phones. I’ve owned this setup for quite sometime & it’s really not an issue

Thank you Ray, but I still have concern about this set up. I will look for a high power headphone amp for HE6, maybe Lyr3 or Mj2.

@sealand1 If you go that route I would strongly advise ditching your HE6 as well and getting something else entirely. No point having a headphone you can't drive well when other options out there will perform better off a simpler setup.

this is a dumb move. pairing the right amp with the right headphone is what this place is all about.
(well, except for DACs and drinking)
you are splitting up good synergy, reducing the quality of sound. HeadFi would love to have you.

Turn the volume down before unplugging. Make a habit. Like swallowing after drinking.

I must agree with the others. Just use the right precautions and you are good to go. You have a great combination. Cancel the sale and live with them for a while.

Or a second set of inline attenuators so that when the volume is at max, the level is still safe. I have a balanced set with six adjustable levels (-6dB to -48dB) that worked well before I subbed in a passive preamp, and I have a single-ended Akustyk passive preamp for sale here that would do the same job in a SE setup.

You could then attach the HE-6's directly with no fear. PM if interested.

Until your grandkid comes up and gives it a crank and you turn it on later expecting it to be where you left it. The HE-6 is good gear and no longer available. It seems to me that "being smart about it" would be to make a modest attempt at protecting them from unintended high signal levels that could damage them.

I must say thank you all friends. I'm thinking withdraw this sale and keep my Vidar right now, seriously.
If one day I want to get rid of the setup, I may sell HE6 together.
