Before coming to SBAF, I wasted hours on Amazon and Head Fi, looking at Bravo, Little Bear, Nobsound, etc. to go with my Sony MDRV-6. No shortage of people proclaiming to have discovered some thrift store priced giant killer. It's a f'ing pernicious and fallacious trap. People fall for it and don't explore and discover what their sonic preferences truly are and remain listening to deeply flawed equipment. "Boy, this sure plays loud."

LOL! I still waste hours on Amazon (though not so much Head Fi), looking for new stuffs from Bravo, Little Bear, Nobsound, and so on. It's kind of like watching the news to pass the time for me.

EDIT: I usually buy nothing. It's just curiosity and stuff.

    4" drivers? Seriously?

The modern audiophile philosophy summed up:
    1. Make stuff bright. Bright means detailed.
    2. Big drivers are bad because big drivers mean they are supposed to play loud but not good like PA gear. Big drivers are also slow, just like how big and heavy semi-trucks are slow.
    3. Make awesome TOTL stuff for $100-$40k, but let the trickle down stuff that normal people can buy for $35k-$5k be compromised garbage. Like Marten Dukes or Velleton Emotions. Audiophiles will buy this garbage because it gives them a feeling of belonging to the exclusive club when they really are not.
    4. Have zero understanding of electrical basics: V=IR, P=V^2/R, voltage divider formula, etc. It's better to have no understanding while mixing and matching all sorts of expensive random gear. It's more fun this way.
    5. E-peening. My $35k speakers, these brands, most respected, highest reviewed, what JA said, Recommended Class A, etc.

Sorry, I have to laugh. A bunch of old farts here squabbling over sound of systems?
Especially a $56 passive? If I still still had one purrIn, Ii would send it to you.

Any tubes color the sound. There are no perfect tubes, or I have not found any in the last 40 years. The tube you choose is the coloration you will have.

MBL's are not plasmas. If you put MBLs in hotel rooms, they do suck. Put them in the right big size room and you will hear very great sound. All speakers are like that. I heard the JBL Everest speakers in a small hotel room in Denver and they sucked big time. I was very disappointed. I imagine in a large room they sound great. With those or MBL's you probably should own a $300K or more home to do them justice. Probably million dollar homes in NY or CA.

    I'm a 45 year old immature child.

Tubes don't color the sound. They are just not perfect. Like everything else.

MBLs suck. And they suck bad.

Anthony Gallos suck. And they suck bad. And those should not need a football field.

It's all relative. Maybe, relative to what I consider neutral, you like bright "detailed" sound @Ozarktom.

Why on you harping on this? I have three cheap passives lying around. One is knob soldered to a resistor ladder in 4db steps, the other is a Sys, and another is a Mackie Big Knob. I've got easy access to few milspec pots and a Khozmo too.

How many times do I have to say that passive > active for 90% of modern source to amp combinations?

No shit. So do transistors. Replace transistors with compatible transistors specwise, and you will get a different sound. Same thing for capacitors. The only reason audiophile don't roll transistors is because it requires soldering skills. Otherwise we'd see millions of idiots rolling transistors (they already roll opamps) and frying their amps.

The Everest and K2 series have always been too bassy at the shows. Take a peak behind the cabs and you will find that the JBL reps went full retard and turned-up the LF dials. They should sound great in a modest 16x13 living room that opens up to other rooms in a house. As far as my M2 experience, the good thing about the M2 is that there are no handy dials in the back. It's DSP active, thus making it more difficult for retarded reps to going full retard.

The issues with a small room will affect any speaker, big or small, although the resonance modes below 50-60Hz will more likely happen with bigger speakers that have more extension and output levels down low. There are ways to minimize room modes. OB and DEQ. The entire premise of "needing a big room" is a myth if one is willing to spend the time to learn and understand. (And no, bass traps, unless they are the size of a small car, do not work).

Why are you harping purrin? You are the one that disbelieves without ever hearing the Nobsound. 56 bucks and free shipping. You can return it in 30 days. You sound like the Tortuga fanboy on Audiocircle that refuses to believe the Nobsound beats it.

And you are open minded? Right.

Already said, I do not disbelieve you. Said this three times already. Every single one of my passives, from $79 to $450+ beats Saga in terms of resolution and transparency (even while in passive, although the difference is so close that I wouldn't bet my life on it). I see no reason why the Nobsound (a cheap passive) would not.

    Literacy is your friend.
