I really like the drums in the track and I have to feel it to know if the gear is for me. If it doesn't sound good, rarely do I bother analyzing it further. Plus there's a recording glitch in it that's useful for seeing how well something reproduces the glitch.

And when it does work, I sit back and listen to the rest of the soundtrack --- which I digitised from a second-hand LP tha I bought many years ago.

So you wouldn’t be interested in the like new versions on amazon for $90+? Lol

I found a used copy for $14, which I bought. I’m not sure if it will be the DVD or DVD+CD set. I figured it was worth a gamble.

It's not only the first song played. It's the only one.

    Oh, those Russians.

    Thank-you. Didn't think about DVD+CD combination.

Not me. I've been involved in a funeral all day, a somber reminder to cherish the gift presented each day, especially with family.

Thank-you. That is more my speed for now.

Awesome find! I honestly wasn't ready to spend that much on the DVD/CD combo when all I was going to do was rip the CD to FLAC anyway, so this helped me save money and cut out a few steps. Cheers

Depends on the gear and what I'm looking for. When I purchased the Solaris the other day the first track I listened to was this:
    I wasn't disappointed :)

After a system change, cable swap, or new gear

    Left Brain Stuff:

    1. Channel Identification - from a JL Audio test CD "this is the left channel..."

    2. Full Range Phase Test - from a JL Audio test CD "my voice is in phase..."

    3. Polarity Test - from a Studio Six Digital WAV file while using the mobile app SpeakerPop on my iPhone to verify "pop pop pop pop..."

If those 3 pass (channels correct, phase correct, polarity correct) then...

    Right Brain Stuff:

I'll play whatever music I've been liking and listening to recently.

A non-trivial number of times over the years I've tried a new cable which slipped by QA and had it's channels wired in reverse, or I plugged into the wrong jack, or tried a new component that inverted phase or flipped polarity. Makes it hard to make true apples to apples evaluations when basic system integrity is somehow wrong.

Typically my go to is Coltrane - My Favorite Things

Also Sarah Vaughan - Lullaby of Birdland

Also The Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Women

If I want to make sure shit that sounds good on anything will sound good, Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing or Chuck Mangione - Feel So Good will do the trick.
