    LOL. It's chopped up Ikea Lack tables. I think they were on sale for $9.99 or $12.99 each.

    Been using the same thing. They fit standard rack audio chassis perfectly

    Damn, now I see it! I've been using the same thing in glossy red for years! It's quite unbeatable for the money.

    Just FYI, there is a broken image tag causing no images to load on this page in mobile mode. If I switch to desktop mode I see broken links in @Forza AudioWorks post #482 and @yotacowboy quote of that post #485.

    (Sometimes the images don’t show up, so here is a direct link: http://imgur.com/a/6lRurfR )

    Attic: Audient iD22 -> HR824 Mk1 // Yamaha NS-10M

    Big white boxes in the back are basstraps, also lots of acoustic panels (thick ones, to also capture low-mids). Room is very nice with lots of slanted walls, lively but without big problems. The HR824's were a recommendation from Luis (LFF), had them ever since. Used to have Genelec 8030's, but replaced them with the NS10's. Great for mixing, but will go back to Genelec's, mixing days are pretty much over.

    Livingroom: Onkyo TX-8270 -> B&W 683 S2

    I guess 'low-fi', but it works really well, and its easy enough for everybody to use.

    Always open for tips/critique regarding placement / equipment choice, etc.!!

    Saving up for:

    Schiit Mumby -> Saga -> Vidar -> B&W's

    Have also been looking for different speakers, would probably be better off with some good bookshelf's on stands and a sub.

    For the 'studio' I might go for a Gungnir MB and Genelec 8040's, have been really happy with Sonarworks.

    --Update:

    Did a lot of testing / measuring, and came to a new set-up:

    There's still a node around 40Hz, but at the current listening position its not a problem, if you go back 50cm, its definitely there. To really solve it it would require a lot of space between the basstraps and the back-wall. The imaging is great and the FR very reasonable (no sharp dips and peaks, sonarworks seems to be able to handle the minor variations).

    The NS-10's will be sold tomorrow and the Mackie's are also for sale, and will make room for a Genelec 8030 + 7050 set-up.

    Still unpacking from the move, but I couldn't wait to listen to these KEFs. My father brought them down to Indy on Friday. They sound absolutely incredible. Definitely need to play around with positioning, get a rug and hang stuff on the walls, but that has to wait till we're settled in.

    I know the speaker placement is shit right now, but I'll fix that this weekend. Too impatient to hook everything up.

    Hey Guys,

    So. I got super lucky yesterday.

    I had seen an ad on Canuck Audio Mart, posted about a week ago, in my city for Philharmonitor BMR’s that was “off” and unrespondable. I have been searching for the “right” speakers for a while now, and was so choked I couldn’t respond. I decided to send the guy a message on the forum instead, and to my surprise, he replied! He said he had decided to keep them. I offered him $200 more than asking (still less than new) and he said…”well….ok…” Next thing I know it is 6 hours later and I am picking them up, 15 minutes away from my house no less.

    I still haven’t played about with their set up or anything, that is next today. I’m just been doing some initial listening, and wow! These are my first “Hi-Fi” speakers, and they are epic. More than I could have asked for, especially for the money I paid. The treble is so airy and sweet sounding. They also sound very spacious, with just the right amount of bass (so far anyhow.)

    This room they are in currently is not their final resting place, and I will only be doing minimal work at getting the positioning right. I’ve got a room upstairs I’m trying to turn into a listening room on a budget. Bathmats on the walls for acoustic treatment, that sort of thing.

    All in all, I got super lucky. I think it was just meant to be, I guess. Stoked!

    I should note, Figuring out an amp and stuff is next. Just happy to have the speakers at the moment.

    Not sure if a mod can fix the fact that we still can’t see any images on this page on mobile?

    Not even the logo shows up at the top of the page for me (using iPhone Safari browser). Previous pages in this thread are fine.

    This is my combo 2-channel/HT setup. Monitor Audio PL-300 speakers, PL-350C center, SVS SB16 sub, Pass Labs X150.5 amp for L/R and ATI 525NC for center/surround, McIntosh MX150 AV processor. Speaker placement and such is not optimal (RoomPerfect room calibration/EQ helps quite a bit), but have to make do with living in a shoebox in the SF bay area. I consider myself lucky that I have this setup in a man cave downstairs.

    BMRs are still in my theater and I fire that system up for music whenever I'm tweaking or building (which is a lot).

    I'm still impressed with the value for the money. If you can pull them out a bit and have a moderate sized space they really are a great large bookshelf.

    How come audiophiles can spend crazy amounts of money on cables, powerstrips etc. but can't find the time to properly set-up, measure and place their gear (god forbid do some acoustic treatment). If people were to spend 1/10th or less to just let a professional come by and do it for you :). Not targeting anyone here btw, have been reading Stereophile.

    It's true that the room is a critical component of the "system." There are at least a couple reasons why people don't do that. For one, gear (including cables and power) is sometimes bling wheras acoustic treatment not so much. Two, in most cases, speaker setup is in a mixed use space so their are placement and aesthetic considerations (i.e. personal and/or spousal acceptance factor). Most pictures I've seen of a well treated space are in a dedicated listening space; not all of us have that luxury.

    There are things that you can do that do easily fit in with decor...rugs are pretty beneficial on hardwood floors. Shelves filled with books can help diffuse sound. I have a good amount of acoustic foam still (mostly in the back of the room, but also in the cavity behind my screen) and also some 48" X 24" X 2" sound panels installed, but I definitely made sure to run it (the type and color of the fabric, etc.) past the wife before installing those.

    All said, that's one reason why it's much easier to have a nice headphone rig...

    I've got the speakers moved up to their final resting place. I'm seriously working on the placement and room. I'm going to get some bathmats from Ikea to put on the wall behind the speakers and listening position (works well weirdly enough...done it before.)

    Here is the current set up. Need to get my DAC fixed and get a non HT amp eventually. I'm honestly just so stoked with how its sounding so far, its hard to believe it gets better :)
