The slots went to the first 6 people to respond. That was the number of members part of the tour that was agreed upon.

Shipping order was picked that way to allow the unit to move from east to west back to east.

Honestly, I don't get why anyone is upset here considering that @sheldaze doesn't exactly have to do this. Be thankful the opportunity came about at all.

Guys, I'd be happy to give up my spot on this loaner tour to a Texan. My bro in law said he's likely buying one in the next month or so and then I'll have an opportunity to hear his. I'll just trek my phones over. So @ChaChaRealSmooth you can pull me off the list if that works.

I understand the graciousness of limited, but when you edit out the 6 from the OP, how am I supposed to know how arbitrary the cutoff point was? I get the rules here and I'm not going to argue first come first served, but you can see where one would be confused.

The rationale behind not disclosing the exact number was to safeguard against any new contributors/randos (who might not be familiar with the rules). I don't want anyone to think the slots are gone when in reality a person who didn't read the ruled posted (and won't be chosen for the tour). Ideally this would never happen but....

Frankly, if you understand the rules and "first come first serve" basis, then there really shouldn't be any complaints. I get that some people might be upset about not making it in time, but I have to be fair. And what isn't fair is trying to guilt-trip members into giving up their slot when they got it fair and sqaure.

That was a lot of piling on. Just to clarify what I think @famish99 was getting at with the comment about Cali, the 3 of us have gone out of our way to get together to share loaners so we maximize loaner time to impressions ratio. Not knowing that up front that it was 6 slots, then only seeing 4/6 going "close" to each other (I know geography and traffic well enough to know there may not a chance to share even in the same metropolis out there) looked arbitrary. He was just trying to look out for a local SBAFer, not make anyone feel bad or ungrateful.

No need for anyone to give up their spots they got fair and square, but muchos gracias to @captkirk and @OldDude04 for volunteering. Just post good impressions/comparisons!

I'm not trying to guilt trip anybody (except maybe you). However, if you're not going to disclose a number, what's the difference between 6 and 8 or 4? It's not the first time you've seemingly arbitrarily cutoff people from loaners. Perhaps a little bit of transparency upfront can save you having to rationalize it at the backend.

Personally, I'm not all that interested in hearing the LP, but Josh has participated in previous loaners and again I'm just looking out for him.

Regardless of what happens here, @sheldaze is a generous member willing to share their gear. People better f*cking post impressions, especially given it's someone else's unit and the tour was limited.

    Shipped to @AllanMarcus.

I also wanted to bookmark two issues, which may be uncommon but are present in the Platinum:
    • Tubes need to be rocked, gently, to remove. Cannot just pull. A little patience and the tubes will come out. This is the same procedure as on a Schiit Valhalla.
    • Plug or unplug the power cable to or from the amplifier only when the light on the power supply is off.
This second bullet is likely what caused damage to my first Platinum. I followed the instructions in the manual, which stated to check that the power button was not on (not depressed on the front of the amplifier). What the manual did not state was exactly what I wrote above, with my personal setup steps below:
    • When connecting (1) ensure power supply light is off (2) plug power cable into amplifier (3) plug power cord into wall power.
    • When disconnecting (1) unplug power cord from wall (2) wait until power supply light goes off (3) disconnect power cable from amplifier.
It takes like 2 seconds for the power to dissipate from the supply, and for the indicator light on the power supply to turn off. But this is where I think most of the damage is occurring. And it does not matter if the power button, on the front of the amplifier, is in the on or off position. The amplifier will be damaged, even if the power button is off.

My bro in law sold his Andros on Thursday, and has ordered up the LP. Please skip me as I'll be listening to his amp here real soon. Feel free to give my spot to whoever needs or wants it OP, and thanks for the opportunity. Also, thanks to @sheldaze for doing this loaner tour.

Replaced @OldDude04 with @Joshvar. And on this note, I have no idea what I'm doing up at the moment (3:12 AM currently in CA; current rig just sounds so f***ing amazing I can't put it down).

Amp got here and I got it set up with my new (to me) Gungnir (A2, Gen 5 USB). I'll also be comparing iDSD as source as well to the iDSD as amp/DAC, the Spark and a Decware Taboo.

Headphones will be HE-5LE, ZMF Ori, HD650, and maybe HE-560s.

Thanks again for arranging this tour!!

I know there was no specific duration, per participant, but what is the status @roscoeiii
The amplifier has been with you 5 weeks, and there are other people waiting on the tour.
