I'm sorry to hear this, but you do seem like a tough hombre. I hope you get better soon.
Also, I didn't realize you are a veteran - thank you for your service.

I really hope they can continue to give you more information at the next appointment. Very frustrating that it has taken this long for you to find answers, for sure. At least you seem to have finally found some progress towards an eventual solution. Great work on the part of your wife getting you there! Wishing you the best of luck, @baldr .

@baldr Fun getting older, but worth it. I send you good vibes for a real diagnosis, and as we used to say back in the day “Keep on Trucking”. With your Schiit Wagon. Hopefully only a temporary tool.

You have bettered so many around you as well as those far away, I amongst them. I am grateful and wish you the best. Time to better yourself and care for that which ails you. Thank you @baldr.

Alls I can say is ah schiit.

It really sucks what you're going through no doubt, but I'm really glad (for you personally as well as the community) that this has only changed how you work, not weather or not you do. I've never met you, but online you conduct yourself with intelligence, integrity, and not a small amount of good humor.

I sincerely wish you well & hope you recover.

Mike, I don’t know if your are a believer or a doubter. As I have actively chosen to be the former, I’ve put you in our prayers. I hope you and the MD’s are able to find a working treatment, and with luck, a diagnosis to go with it. As others have noted, you and your work have brought many a lot of joy. Your products over the years have been groundbreaking. Your writing has always made me smile. Thank you.

A shared fear, sadly. Medical sciences are improving at an alarming rate, but there's still a helluva lot about these weird meat robot bodies we have no idea about. Reading your post was frightening, but I'm happy to read that you're onto something and have the assistance of genuinely talented and skilled people.

Not something I advertise but despite all my cursing I'm also religious, even if churches are corrupt as f**k. Prayers, but also fingers crossed you get a "proper" diagnosis, and a treatment plan that just works.

You've done a lot for this hobby and are a really cool person besides I think. Thank you, and best wishes.

@baldr, I am sure you are beset by unsolicited and probably unwanted medical advices from those who don't know wtf they are talking about. So hey, here's mine.

I guess you have told your docs about your lifetime crouched over a hot soldering iron?

Yes, of course you have. I'll let myself out.

Anyway, really sorry to hear about your health problems, and the frustration of lack of diagnosis. Wishing you all the best.

@baldr, sorry to hear of the affliction. I have a still-undiagnosed disorder that manifests with autoimmune symptoms, and when I was living in L.A. I ran the gamut at UCLA medical center. In my 30's at the time apparently my symptoms were interesting given my age, and I seemed to generate a lot of interest in the various specialists, but once they came up against something that knocked out their diagnosis they passed me on very quickly. Eventually the docs were asking me what I thought they should do next, as I was the only one who had a full history of what had been done. So I insisted on being assigned a doctor who would operate as the central point of connection for the various specialists instead of bouncing from doctor to doctor. I suggest you take the same tack if it looks like you're not getting a coordinated service from them.

Best of luck. My symptoms are nowhere near as scary as yours, so I've now just learned to manage them and called it a day. I tested out of every damn thing they could think of. I hope you get to diagnosis swiftly!

I have changed to a primarily meat diet recently to lose weight. 2 weeks in my stamina is noticeably better. Rather than struggling and giving up while trying to keep pace with my grand nephews, I have found that I can keep pace during walks with ease, important when on sidewalks on busy streets. Feel better than I have felt in a long time and haven't really lost any weight yet.
I only mention this because I think it's an avenue worth exploring as there have been positive studies on keto and carnivore diets and autoimmune diseases and Alzheimers and other brain disorders and brain development..
    Best of luck.

    There goes the environment!

No, seriously... Consider that followed by a "lol." Fellow omnivore here and, as much as veggie-ism appeals ethically, it does not suit my body.

Mike your work in creating audio equipment has changed many peoples lives for the better on a daily basis, mine included... feel like I owe you more than just a simple thanks! I hope these health issues are soon wrangled in and there is a more effective treatment on the horizon. You genuinely seem like an awesome person, please take care!

@baldr Sorry to hear about your problems. Hopefully the neurologists at the new hospital do better than IDKWTFYH syndrome and find a treatment to get you better soon! The world is a lesser place without you using your soldering iron! (Thanks for sharing with us, I imagine it’s much harder to go through and contemplate than the lighthearted story you wrote for us).

I like to throw in my 2cents hopefully it's another avenue for you to examine. Have you consider acupuncture? My dad had a very severe issue with his back which cause him great pain in the lower part near the buttocks, and could not walk at one time. I forgot what it call, but medicine wasn't working well. We turned to acupuncture and after 6 months of treatment really help, he continue the treatment for a year and now was able to walk and function normally again. I too have shoulder pain, and has been going to the same acupunturist. I only go once a week vs. my dad couple times a week, but I do feel it's helping, maybe it's placebo...

Any how, thought I share...Wish you best of luck and quick recovery.

FWIW acupuncture also worked on my dog - it was quite clear that the treatment improved his mobility and I doubt that placebo had much to do with that.

The skill of the acupuncturist matters a lot, though.
