CanJam μ (meet @ Marv's in Malibu Canyon)

Not sure if I can make June 22nd yet, but if I can go, I'll try. It would be nice to meet most/all for the first time IRL.

I don't have that "new" much stuff I can bring - It seems like most of my gear is stuff that SBAF is familiar with to some degree, but I do have:
- A few vintage and new production matched pairs of 6922 family of tubes I can bring (currently used for LP).
- A few single/unmatched 12AU7s (currently used for BH crack).
- arcam rhead - in the little time I listened to THX 789 this seems somewhat comparable except it actually works with C/IEMs.

Lastly, would anyone want to carpool from South OC? I can pitch in for gas, buy lunch, or etc.

 

I will also be manning The Source AV booth at CanJam. So I won't be able to make it. Hope its a blast.

 

Never heard the HE5, but from memories at the schiitr, with the 6xx Mj2 has more bass slam and Lyr 3 has more air. My guess is Lyr won't drive planar bass to satisfying level.

 

If this happens on the 22nd I will do my best to make it. Just bought my first home so I'll be working on the new place and moving in throughout the month.

 

Messaged PTS and it looks we should coordinate who will bring what and gear requests in the thread as well. I can list/organize for this thread if needed (or I could start a PM if that's better).

Can bring:
- Stuff mentioned above but I will not bring anything by default unless someone asks - again, it looks like most of my gear is stuff SBAF already has or is familiar with. Most of my headphones don't seem to be that popular here. Also have an LP, stock BH Crack with SB (faint noise/humming noise in left channel currently, will try to fix before event if requested), a 1421, or possibly some extra cables if needed.
- Snacks or drinks if requested (I won't do hard alcohol since most of us will probably have to drive back home after).

Requesting some DACs as I'm looking to buy something before year end:
PM'd ChaCha - he will bring a Matrix X-Sabre
a Metrum DAC (Onyx, Jade, Pavane, etc.) if available.
Holo Spring DAC if available.

Carpool from south OC (or somewhere along the 405) if anyone is interested.

 

Oops, I totally forgot that my family decided to go on a camping trip on the 22-23!

Looks like I won't be able to make it down after all. Maybe some other time.

 

Can bring anything in my sig below, minus the turntable or anything super heavy. Will most likely be:

Laptop > RME DAC > HFM EF-5 headamp > HFM HE-5se and Denon 7k headphones.

Edited original post and deleted people who can't make it from the list. Seems that quite a few SBAFers would've been able to come had it not been on the 22nd, so it's up to @purr1n if he wants to push it forward? Otherwise it will stay on the 22nd.

I asked @purr1n, he said around 10 or 11 AM.

 

As long as work doesn't get in the way, I plan on attending.

 

I will be there. And @PTS can have fun with the Lyr 3.

 

This sounds like a blast, and although I'll be at CanJam, I won't have a car rental and have a dinner scheduled for the 22nd already. But if anyone here will be at CanJam during either day, please come say hi. Maybe we can even meet up for lunch if a few of us will be there.

 

I have to go to CanJam cause the significant other needs new iems and she doesn't know who "Marv and his best friends are".

Suddenly this got more popular than CanJam.

 

^Final E1000s (these right?) are great. They're on my shortlist for if my daily commute "earplugs" die off. Cheap enough not to stress over too.
