Sorry guys I had a work trip, so I wasn't able to ship the zdt. I can do it today though, either to @msommers or @Vansen. That being said I only have an hour before the post office closes and I can't ship it again until next weekend.

 

Have been doing some reading about digital attenuation. If I got it right, which I probably didn’t as I could only follow the math, 6 dB attenuation drops about 1 bit from the data stream. @atomicbob, how much am I off on this. I know SNR of the digital signal is involved, I think. Please don’t waste your time on trying to explain if I am wrong. “Your wrong” is fine with me. Thanks as always for your time.

 

Dropping 1 bit reduces the system gain by 6.02 dB. Another way to accomplish digital attenuation is multiplying with very large mantissa double word or floating point math. If carefully implemented, reasonably transparent fractional gains may be obtained. This is done all the time on DAW mix consoles. Long before the music ever hits mastering where it may experience gain tweaks yet again.

 

Is this still floating around? Would be interested as it makes its way back to the west coast.
