Eh. Vali 2 can be warmish, as is later production Jot.

But usually there's a hint of warmth at most, they tend to be pretty neutral and rather forward, Vali 2 being the only laid back amp.

Mjolnir 2 can be positively zingy with the wrong tubes.

Lyr2/MJ2/Asgard2 all sounded on the warmer side to me.

I actually did, and it really does seem like Yggdrasil A2 is more the way to go. I did (I thought) a lot of research, and figured the laidback, warm Gungnir A1 was better then the more neutral Yggdrasil A1... And that's what I thought I bought. I'm gonna check with the store, though, see if they're nice. A local dealer.

    Thank you! Really!

Not sure if this goes here, but here goes - picked up a well-aged Bedini 200/200 amp last week. Sounds gorgeous, needs a little help in the internals though. I need to replace the RCA jacks so I have new Neutrik Rean chassis mount jacks coming for that. I'd also like to clean up the insides a little - it's a bit dusty and grimey. Not too bad, but if it's something I can do on my own, I'd like to give it a shot. To be fair. I have not googled "how to clean inside an amplifier" so if I should, just say so :) But if there's anything I should consider here, either with soldering on the new RCA jacks or cleaning it, any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks all.

I checked this link out a bit ago, haha. Thanks though! It'll come in handy if anyone else was curious. Already have a specific release bookmarked, and as much as I hate giving Jeff Bezos money Amazon has nice used copies still available I think :))

This is great advice... I find that it's the same way with speakers. Start there, then build the rest as you go.

Does anyone have recommendations on digital equalizers (either software or hardware solution) on macOS? Tried Amarra but it's super buggy. Want to tame the upper midrange (1-2.5khz range) of the Stellia a bit. Using mostly Spotify and iTunes.

It's going to depend on the player software and what plugins it supports. You can trial Jriver which has a built in eq, but in my experience it is not too great. I use Tokyo Dawn Records Nova EQ with Jriver on Windows. TDR Nova also have a Mac plugin.

You can also try Audirvana which I believe supports vst plugins. Neither player software integrates with iTunes from what I recall, but both are a step up than iTunes in sound quality.

    Good luck!

Check out Sound Source from Rogue Amoeba, I think it'll do what you want.

Any better DAC than the Airist for -500€ ? It's going to connect to a DNA Sonett 2+HD800/600. I already have my primary system which is Onyx+Crimson and, as you know by now, my Crimson is untouchable. I also have another budget system, which is loaned to a friend so it doesn't count, for now.

I have no problems, at all, going for something used but the Airist is now on stock.

You might be able to get a dac1421 used for that much, but if you want that nos-like sound the rdac might be your best bet.

Maybe that toslink-only one ... Ecdesign MOS16? A new MOS16 or a used MOS24 can you can find it, our feline overlord took a look at one of them.

Also a used but newer revision Bifrost MB but that's be a pretty big departure from the onyx sound.

I've seen the used prices and, unfortunately, are a bit over budget. I guess I don't have many days to decide or I will risk waiting half a year for an Airist.

Just keep your source usage in mind, the usb on the airist is ass so it's network player or CD only. Well, or a converter but that's another what, 150 euros for a used eitr or other equivalent.

I already have an eitr so no extra investment needed. :)

As others have noted the Liquid Platinum is a very fine amplifier. However, I also agree with several opinions that it is normally a bit on the relaxed side.I have been reading the reviews about the ECP T4, Glenn OTL, Euforia, DNA, etc.
One drawback is that in Europe there are fewer chances to audition any of these amps. There is also import tax and the added hassle of shipping to and fro across the Atlantic if something goes wrong.

Therefore, I am wondering what other tube / tube hybrid amps up to $2200 are made/readily available in Europe that are recommended?

Felix Audio would fit but what I've read about the Euforia in general and with the Auteur in particular it does not seem to check my boxes. I'm looking for an amp (if I understand the terms correctly) with a larger stage, air, micro- macrodynamics, good layering and rumbling bass. That is, I like to listen for fun but at times I like to listen analytically. I also don't want to mess around with tube rolling, not going down that path.

An additional but related question is about the DAC. I currently have a Modi Multibit and am wondering if the upgrade to the Gungnir Multibit might possibly be the better initial move before a different amp? Perhaps the Gungnir Multibit would tweak the presentation enough (more dynamic, better technicalities across the board)?

I use Teak Auteurs with a CD Player and also Spotify.

Has anyone heard the LCD2C Open and the LCD2C Closed Back? Out of all the pricey headphones that I sold, I miss the LCD2C Open the most. But I'm curious on the Closed Back.

Look at the Auris amplifiers. Something like the HA-2 SE or their higher end amps. That may be an easier amp to audition before buying.

I can only say that I heard the standard LCD2 and the LCD2 closed back to back at the Audeze office late last summer. It was a little after the closed backs came out (not sure how many revisions there have or haven't been since). Let's just say I knew in < 5 minutes I'd probably wouldn't want a closed back LCD2. I have also heard both the LCD2C and LCD2 Closed here and there but not back to back. I walk away each time thinking I still don't want a closed 2.

I cannot give finer specifics as it was all long enough ago, brief enough of a listen, and I didn't take more mental notes as it wasn't something I was interested in. For reference, I like the 2 classic and if I didn't buy the LCD3, I probably would have gone with the 2 classic.
