Burning amp is fun! I haven’t been in a few years. I don’t think I can make this year. Tai Kan is has been there when I’ve been, always with a cool project. The last time there was a farmers market in front of fort mason. Somebody had the best pot stickers I’ve ever had there. Have fun!

    Hey all,

I have not posted for some time but do we have update on potential new projects from AMB? I think after the experience the Beta 22 and Dynahi it is difficult to find better sounding SS amps on the market.

    Regards,
    Jeremiah

If I see Ti Kan tomorrow, I will be sure to find out. I also want to see if I can borrow Gamma3 DAC. Heard it once a long time ago and was impressed. Very expensive build that I wonder if can be done cheaper today...

Bob Cordell presented on amp measurements.

Demian Martin covered speaker measurements today in the seminar.

Both of their slide presentations should end up on the Burning Amp site along with video of the presentations.

I asked Bob on a break how to reliably measure and test volume pots for channel balance at low volumes (liftoff). Considering 10K audio taper pots. He had a couple of ideas...but the research continues.

So lucky... I’m really keen to get to BA myself. Spent my week doing transistor matching. (Black hose is constant temperature air source for Vbe measurements.)[IMG]

QA401 is great. They keep releasing new software features for it. It replaced my giant HP spectrum analyzer. A few other members have it too.

I’m genuinely curious why this is a challenge? Is it not merely measuring resistance at several pot positions?

Pass talked today, was on late and they had technical issues so after spending a lot of time I had to run to see rest of show a little after they got the visuals working. Only had issue for Nelson, which is bad luck. I am counting on videos being available and then I will post links here.

Cell service so bad, I couldn’t post dispatches. :(

AMB Ti Kan was there with Gamma3, modded Behringer 2496, preamp, B24 amp, etc. Nice to see him.

Particleman14 showed up! Also brought Gamma3 and lent it to me so I can finally get more time with one. Also: brought a great little drone set-up and showed us how it is done with affordable high-performing DIY drones. I totally called that what he also brought to share was a drone. Because I love them too, though haven’t had time to fly mine. problem with DJI is no-fly zones. Problem with small DIY drones is you actually have to have some skill. I’ll be getting his simulator recommendation and putting some hours in soon.

Was nice to see Linuxworks as well...I sense a drone and audio get together soon.

Some very nice people at the meet, including this fine gentleman who kindly let me capture his shirt:

I’ll keep in touch with him- he is mostly on DIY/speaker forums.

This other super-nice guy donated 3 tube testers to the raffle. I had no idea there would be a raffle, let alone for a tube tester although I always wanted one and need to test some tubes...

Well, I need to get it into shape but then we have one in the Bay Area that I can bring around! First raffle I think I have participated in and because we could choose where to put tickets, I won a Hickock:

(The one all the way to the right.)

Pretty great event, from seminars to listening, to chatting with people, AND seeing old friends again!

Will post some more pics tomorrow, need to rotate and edit.

    See you next year????

congrats - looks like a great time.

I think I need that T-shirt - my wife clearly no longer believes when I say anything like that

I have a tube tester similar to the hickock you won ( though mine is not made by hickock ) - hopefully it is calibrated and you only need to plug tubes in and play about with it.

I actually plan on building those exact 16ohm fostex transmission line speakers. Were you able to listen to them @CEE TEE ?
