I have a Dayton EMM-6 and and interface and need to start learning how to measure as I trying to first start with the easy stuff and tune my 2.1 channel setup in my A/V room.

What is some good spectrum analyzer software to use that will not break the bank. I know there is probably some freeware around and would be willing to try, but I know some of those tools are limited.

Is it also good to produce the white noise and sweeps from the computer, or just make a CD with everything to play back?

Sorry to ask such noob questions on this, but I got to get started somewhere on measuring.

    Thanks guys.

Spectrum analyser being RTA or sine sweeps or what? I've only ever used it in conjunction with MiniDSP EARS but REW (Room EQ Wizard) is great— it's as affordable as you can feasibly get (free) and comes with a buttload of features. Relatively dummy proof I'd say since I get a fair bit of use out of it, plus their community forum is pretty good about helping people out.

Quite a few people use it on here I think, while others opt for ARTA. REW seemed easier for me so it's what I went with, but there's quite a few free options if you're willing to do some digging.

Edit: @atomicbob says in two lines what takes me two paragraphs, lol.

    Thanks guys!

Just some quick white noise on my 2.1 setup, I almost don't need a sub. Here is just my JBL LSR32's in full Direct mode.

Now just to get some long 1/4" to RCA's so I can do some sweeps and what not. Still a bit to learn with this Room EQ software.
