    Hey y'all, I'm thinking about hosting a meet up at our NJ office in September. It's small place, but the conference room can comfortably fit like 10 people. Probably will just be an informal hangout with pizza, beer, and a bunch of gear to check out. I have a lot of headphones and DAC/amps here, and would encourage others to bring stuff for us all to check out. Anyone in the area interested? We're like a half hour from Philly, 1 hour from Delaware, and 2 hours from NYC.

    Wanna refresh this thread. Anyone in the Delaware Valley area interested in a meetup? We've got a bunch of new stuff here to demo including the SR1a, LCD-1, AEON 2, and SA700. Would love to host something in the next couple months!

    I'd be interested. Even though I list myself in ri and live in dc I'm in nj weekly and may be able to stick around for a weekend and meet some folks here in the mid Atlantic. Happy New Year!

    I'd be into a meetup!

    Not sure any of my gear would interest. 95% sure it wouldn't. I could bring beer? =)

    I could bring some of the more popular DIY flat-pack kits: Overnight Sensations, Classix II, Speedsters, C-Notes. Also cult favorites BIC RTR EV-15 Eviction series. And a Crown XLS amp if anybody really wants to see if there's an audible difference between it and more audiophile fare. Also some random Emotiva and HK amps.

    Nothing very interesting on the headphone side. Topping DX3 Pro, if anybody wants to see if they truly hate it or whatever. Grado SR125, HiFiMan 400S.

    @Bloom Actually, dang, Didn't realize the shop was so close. Meetup or no meetup, I need to stop by. 15 min from me. Been itching for a new set of cans, but did not know there was actually a shop near me where I could demo headphones and headphone gear. That's awesome.

    I'm in New Brunswick, NJ and interested in the meet.

    My Perun electrostatic headphones might be interesting to some fellow head-fiers. I used to own Stax 009/007, but Iike the Perun better.

    Hope the Jot-R will be available to drive the SR1A by the time of the meet.

    Could be cool - didn't realize so close to Philly. I have a new set of ZMF VC LTC's in Ironwood (and also Ether C and LCD-3) as well as a bunch of CFA IEMs (Solaris, Andro, Vega, Dorado) and the Sony 1Z to power them. Also have a few DACs (DM Convict 2 and Holo Spring L3) and Cavalli LAu, but not sure I want to fully dismantle my stack. @Bloom let us know what dates might work. Cheers

    Awesome, thanks for chiming in, guys. I’m thinking like a Saturday afternoon in February or March. Our office is 30 minutes from Philly and 45 minutes from Trenton. Would that time of the week work for y’all?

    Did you guys ever end up meeting?

    I'm very curious to hear more about @TomNC 's Perun headphones. I've been eyeing them as a possible upgrade to my L700 but there's very little info about it comparatively speaking and their website is super barebones.

    We didn't, no. Sadly, at this point, it might be a few more months before most folks are comfortable with a meetup. :-/

    Ah that sucks, but very understandable in these times. Better to stay safe and avoid crowds in closed spaces!

    @TomNC Any chance you could share more info about your Peruns in the forum? Pros and cons, photos, and by any chance how they compare to the L700? Thanks!

    @Zoide
    I sold the Perun not too long ago. But the buyer is a friend of mine nearby in NJ. So there is still a slim chance that it may be audited by head-fi'ers in the region before he moves to the Seattle area, pending on the rate of reopening.

    The biggest strength of Perun is micro-dynamics and speed. In my experience, it only lacks behind the few super headphones like Omega, R10, or even HE60 in this respect. For those who primarily listen to orchestra music, the ability of the Perun to resolve details and separate instruments is something hard to get from any other headphones currently in production. Relatedly, soundstage and imaging are average and unremarkable, especially in comparison with R10 or Omega.

    Bass can be a mixed attribute for Perun. Yes, bass is more present than probably any other electrostatic headphones except HE90 and HE1. But I feel it also adds some haze to the overall sound, hurting clarity and the sense of precision and making the Perun ultimately inferior to those aforementioned super headphones.

    I also detected a peak around 8KHz that made some details stand out unnaturally and fatiguing a little. Not all fellow headfi'ers who heard the Perun felt the same way though. I simply used EQ to tune it down a little to suit my preference, especially with songs.

    Perun is well built, solid and feels durable. It is comfortable to wear despite its size. It is not heavy.

    I home-audited L700 for about 2 months. In a post of my impressions of the L700, I make an analogy to Lexus in the car world. L700 is well-rounded but it excels in few particular aspects. In terms of speed and micro-dynamics, Perun beats it handily. But for those who listen to pop/rock songs, it is hard to say which one is more preferable.

    Currently I am using an old pair of Lamda Nova. With some EQ, it sounds right in many ways. Still, if a pair of Omega can be purchased at a reasonable price, I will have no hesitation.

    @TomNC

    Thanks for sharing!

    "But for those who listen to pop/rock songs, it is hard to say which one is more preferable." <-- Hmm... Why is that?

    BTW, what version of the Perun was that? Live Sound or earlier?

    It is LS version. For pop/rock with a limited number of instruments, speed/micro-dynamics, which is Perun's primary strength, is not that necessary. On the other hand, from memory, L700's imaging might be better with a greater sense of body. I might be exaggerating the differences. Bottom line is the strengths and weaknesses of Perun's sound are both quite conspicuous, making it a headphone which must be audited prior to purchase.
