I'm in Sweden and the general consensus is to stick our head in the sand. I'm fairly worried as well, considering it seems most people go about their business as usual. A lot of us have been given the option to work from home though, so at least that's something.

They wouldn't be trying to develop a vaccine if you couldn't develop some sort of immunity...

    ------------EDIT--------------

It's obvious that my lack of writing skills, combined with replying to the wrong post, resulted in a complete lack of clarity on what I intended to say. To start over...

If you couldn't develop some sort of immunity, then we wouldn't have a lot of smart people trying to develop a vaccine... they are only doing this because there is a belief that some level of immunity can be developed.

Please educate yourself BEFORE you make statements of fact. From the CDC FAQ on COVID-19:

Q: Can people who recover from COVID-19 be infected again?

A: The immune response to COVID-19 is not yet understood. Patients with MERS-CoV infection are unlikely to be re-infected shortly after they recover, but it is not yet known whether similar immune protection will be observed for patients with COVID-19.

Edited: Deleted my comment since I misread your post (“couldn’t”).

Still, agree with Winders, immunity from having the disease vs. vaccine (if they can even create one) not well understood enough at this point.

    CDC is just being cautious.

The questions posed should be this: how long will the immunity last (antibodies go down slowly over time, hence the need for vaccine boosters) and how much could the virus mutate (rendering existing antibodies less effective)? Everybody who got the virus would be dead if they didn't develop some kind of immunity to it.

Yes, scientists are working on a COVID-19 vaccine and operating under the assumption that we will have some level of immunity after recovering from infection. It would be criminal to do otherwise. The CDC are not just being cautious though because they really have no concrete idea how immunity will work. Each virus is different. The real worry is that someday a virus will come along that spreads like the flu, is deadly, and we build up no immunity to it. The Corona family of viruses are not that virus.

Agreed, the CDC is being cautious in making any kind of statement because they do not know for certain.

The headline seems on point to me if people are testing positive a second time. They have each been asymptomatic, and testing positive apparently may not automatically mean 'infected', and they don't seem to be sure yet if the second positive test is the result of reinfection or as a residual from the first. But... it does look like someone can go from testing as recovered and then test again later as 'positive'.

Came across this interesting post from an ER doctor and former Special Forces Medic on what to do if you get COVID but aren't sick enough to need hospitalization. It's a lot of practical advice on ways to alleviate symptoms effectively and help your body fight the infection. Not a substitute for your doctor's advice obviously, but it has some good ideas I haven't seen articulated elsewhere.

If you believe this guy, Covid-19 spreads way wider than the flu. Flu= 1.3 people per spreader then 10 layers removed then 14 total. Covid-19 = 3 people per spreader or 58,000 10 layers deep. No I did not check the "maths"

The USA and Western European states have a problem because we won’t send guys in camo to lock up everybody no obeying social distancing. The East Asians and Slavs send some guy with a buzz cut or shaved head in camo pants and a wife beater to stand outside and smoke to make sure you don’t leave your apartment.

Trump won’t quarantine NYC and asshole New Yorkers are driving out of the city spreading it. f**k his space force. Start the United States Police Force and mine the bridges. Has anybody posted Escape From NY yet? That’s what we need.

We don't need Snake trying to find the President after his fingers were cut off. We also need that 80s synth soundtrack at this time (even if I own the soundtrack on CD).

So...about that House bill that was passed with so much Pork? Yum, pork. I'm in my cigar shop right now doing my weekly cigar, having a Dry Pork Sandwich in the process. No one is doing social distancing.

Well, at least millennials with temperature monitors out and about. Well, that wouldn't work because it would be this guy here trying to stop Homer. And Homer's gonna do what Homer wants to do.
