Yeah, our A4 wagon had a leaky roof in the bay area after a few years. Also the electrical system had a million f'ing problems in just a couple of years. Window and lock buttons got loose and one even fell the f**k off. Never again.

I think the 3/4 front view of the supra doesn't look good in saturated colours, fite me.

I'm pretty sure @SoupRKnowva would prefer the yellow rather than ESSO Ultraflo, Bridgestone, and Zent stickers on his car from the 3/4 view.

I really like the yellow. Not everyone has to though, that’s fine. It’s legit tied with the blue and the grey as my favorites. I just decided to be more adventurous this time around

I'm not usually a fan of yellow cars, but that Supra is gorgeous.

I love that yellow. I am jealous that you scored! I wanted a yellow Honda CRX when I was out of college, but they were impossible to find on the lots.

Awesome - congrats. And great color. I would have went with that yellow too - one of the best yellows I've seen in a long time.

B58 is an awesome engine - 8 speed auto or manual. First 1.5 years I kind of regretted not getting the manual but now I don't feel so bad, especially when sitting in traffic. A big part of me picking my car now over other options is also b/c of the B58 - it's a perfect daily: can still be fun when environments/chances arise, relatively reliable (compared to most other BMW engines, not an Accord or something), and very good power curve for daily driving as well (where-as say the S55 many other BMW, while a little faster, IMO is not quite as suitable as a daily in higher traffic areas like Southern CA and the parts of Austin I've been to).

Regarding power, you may know this already, the ~330hp / 370ftlb figure you see (along with many other BMW engines) is usually for the bottom 10th% (or in other words, 90% of engines will exceed figure). I haven't dyno or whatever, I found out about this after I got my car and felt like it may be under-rated.

Lastly, it looks like you already solved the 2020 vs 2021 debate, just in case you ever wonder if you should have gone with a Z4 after driving your Supra a while - Z4 (recent loaner) was good but not great IMO + bad visibility and a decently big blind spot on the driver's side (convertible version at least).

More of a matte gray, but still looks cool: YouTube

It's gorgeous! Congratulations on your score. 330-ish HP of fun. Are you going to wrap it in any kind of paint protection film?

Also, you're required to post a smokey burnout vid after the engine's broken in and the rings are seated.

And hopefully that doesn't take you as long as mine did - between one thing and the other I get to drive so little mine still hasn't cleared 1000k, nearly 2 years in!

It's been all pleasure drives in mountain roads though, so it ait all bad.

    You and

...both asked this. I have been considering it, but its hard to figure out which ones are actually good/worth it. Do either of you, or anyone, have specific recommendations for films or ceramic coatings to put on the car?

And maybe a recommendation for a place to get it done in Austin? I know with stuff like this the place you get it done is just as important as what get put on. Ill want to get the windows tinted as well.

The B58 is incredible yeah, it has so much usable power on the road in day to day driving. Never leaves me disappointed. I wouldnt have gone with the Z4 regardless, I'm not a huge fan of convertibles, I didn't even go drive one.

Thanks Marv! I think its funny I ended up with a car I wasn't even remotely considering at the beginning. That just shows you the value of actually test driving things, as well as trying some oddball options just to see what sticks.

I went with Ceramic Pro, but XPEL is the other reputable coating company that had installers in my region. You'll want to let the paint fully cure (2-3 months post build date) so the detailer can do a complete paint correction before installing the ceramic coating.

Well, 3 months from date of manufacture, which should be on one of your model plates.

Might be a couple of months already between transport, low sports car sales, and covid.

I don't have a car which is nice enough to warrant paint protection to be fair! My car does however have nicks and dings from people bumping it with their car doors, or gravel hitting the hood when driving, which is why I was curious about your plans.

The thing is, most paint damage occurs while you're washing and waxing the car. The idea with a ceramic coating is that it forms a hydrophobic surface that's only removeable through abrasion, so the car doesn't need to be washed as often (and mostly without touching the paint), and doesn't ever need to be waxed. Paint protection films (PPFs) are a little different. They're simply a layer of plastic over the paint. PPFs aren't (to my knowledge) hydrophobic. I went with ceramic mostly because I don't feel like washing my car because I'm lazy.
