Downtown Mobile, Alabama rising through the fog on an extremely low ceiling day last year, taken as my crew and I were flying north up Mobile Bay.

To give you an idea of just how low the fog was that day, the tallest building there (RSA Battle House Tower) is 745ft (227m).

    Rules for lazy photos:
    - find something that looks cool completely on its own
    - put it at an angle to indirect lighting (windows with thin blinds are like magic - bonus points for anxiety-inducing tilt implying undeserved profundity)
    - get the camera to minimum focus distance
    - take aperture to .5-1.5 stops below maximum for narrow DOF
    - process for b&w
    - you are now an 'artist'

I don't know why I like taking lazy pictures of 'stuff.' But I really do. Hand-engraved copper is beautiful.

Ahaha, I'm not as big on it as when I was totally new, but every time I get something new that looks nice, it's on.

I think for me, I just like objects. Even as a kid, I would kinda stare at stuff and just pour over the details. Gets the dopamine goin or something. Photographing them is just another way for me to get a look at them, in a sense.

A Leatherman guy, eh? I've been using them for my whole life, starting with dad's HMD supertool as a boy. Still carry at least a Wave+ most days. Indispensable in my line of work.

One thing that kills me about them is the interchangeable screwdriver bit. They're short, and significantly wider than the actual heads of the bits, meaning if you've gotta get in a recess, you've got problems. It's like a stubby with a full-size handle. Makes no sense. Nice to be able to swap in different bits, but still kind of a huge compromise. I actually thought about buying a Charge. They're friggin beautiful and I know that's a tool that'll get a lot done. But I gotta have one with the 'traditional' style phillips that's literally a completely built-in screwdriver with a normal square shaft.

I taught my kids if you have testicles you need to wear a Leatherman. I use it for work as well but I also carry a Greenlee 11 way nutdriver, 6 inch channel lock and my McGizmo Mule Light. I can fix 90% of my service calls with those alone.

While this camera take Amazing photos, in this shoot alone it... Crashed 4 times and when it does, it will continue to take photos over and over till you pull the battery. The lens locked up 2 times, stopped autofocus... the lens also won't autofocus if you are pointing the camera straight down. To top it off, you can't manually focus it either because it gets wonky.

This is a over 15k worth of camera / lens here. But for product photography it doesn't get any better for less money imo. The color science is as close to natural as you can get.

This is technically a re-edit but I think I'm finally happy with how it turned out. Snapped a pic of my dad at a gas station last August while the family was on a roadtrip, this is honestly one of my favourite photos I've taken in recent memory. I wish I were further back so the full "POWER" across the ceiling were visible instead of just "OWER", though.

Ah, pretty baby! I used to have a little girl Himalayan (ok, proper term these days seems to be "pointed persian") and she was just the sweetest little thing.

She is literally the sweetest thing, ragdoll seal point. I don't know if all have the same quirks, here's how she likes to sleep(Samsung Note 9 and the second time I was amazed by phone quality):

I came across this picture in my archives and its not part of any project so I might as well posit it here for a little while at least.

Here are some of my stills from back in the day. These were all shot on a Nikon FTN with various Kodak, Fuji and Ilford B/W stocks.

Yep, USAC Sprints at Perris Speedway - Perris, CA. These were taken a few years ago.

I miss getting pelted with dirt to get the shot. Sprints are a ton of fun. Those guys and gals are crazy. Open-wheel drifting on dirt. Everyone should experience it at least once.
