And « Yes» is my answer to your silent question about my last post.... There exist another extraordinary collaboration between these 2 geniuses, Walt Dickerson and Sun Ra:

Here is one from left field. IMHO Pat's cover is better than the original by Kate Bush...

    truly incredible

actually, from Coltrane, even more haunting knowing that only 3 years later he would die.
    profoundly sad yet hauntingly beautiful.

This needs to be added. They changed everyone who came after them.

The Enya sample and then Lauryn Hill sings the opening lines. Trap started here. In the dark corners of alternative Rap the Fugees shone brightly.

This makes me sad, but I still like it a lot.

I wish he did a full version of this.

Sample-clicking among stuff on this, the-current-last, page of the thread, this is the one that made me listen to the end.

This is a dark slough and while I'm making my way through it piecemeal at an EXTREMELY slow rate, it's still up in the air whether I'll actually finish it. Like heck I'm actually going to be able to listen to all this in a single sitting as intended.

I know @Accrued tried listening to this too with more success— how you faring?

Honestly I stopped at stage 4 (in one sitting). I’m very hesitant to continue, the music (if I can still even call it that at this point) has gotten extremely dark and up to the point where it’s starting to scare me when I’m listening to it alone. I have certainly cried a couple of times too. It really is scary seeing how successful the creator was in recreating the experience of dementia. I hope I can complete the last 2 stages soon, but probably it’s a pause for now.

Yeah, I'm stuck at stage 3 so you're absolutely tearing right through it compared to me.

I'm... a bit of a crybaby (still think I deserve that badge lol) so just knowing what's ahead, because I learned of this project through a review that went into some detail of what's to come, I'm probably just going to put happy pop music on for a long while until I hope I forget about this.

I'm too old: it's too scary.

If when I go there, I just hope to have a favourite song in my head, even if it's the only thing. I really should try harder to remember them.

Hallatar is an incredibly heartbreaking, and I would say haunting, Doom Metal album released by the lead guitarist of Swallow the Sun after his girlfriend Aleah Starbridge passed away. This is one man's grief channeled through some of the music she had written before she passed, as interpreted in the style he is known for. Also featuring some samples of her singing on the album closer

Accrued makes a valid point, it's hardly music any more at stage 3 and the snippets of the rest that I've heard are absolutely horrible. More like ambiance out of the Abyss. Grand work with the bass on the Klipsch HP-3 even just out of my phone, but perhaps a bit too synergistic a pairing with late nights and darkness.

Love and warmth to you and yours, N. Yeah it's scary shit.

Haunting... This. One of the great haunting ballads of all time

Don't listen to it often, but when I do, the whole thing runs like a movie in my head. And hangs around, hauntingly, for a while.
