Co pilot looks comfier, but they don't really look good either lol they're both too wide. I need something that fits tightly to the correct dimensions of the Fostex headband

I care about how my headphones look and I just don't like the way Pilot or Copilot pads look. I saw a video on youtube trying the copilot pads on different headphones and Fostex was one of them. Here's a quick screenshot

@ChaChaRealSmooth next time you see @tommytakis, punch him on my behalf. You welcome.

Also that picture is not ugly. As long as it works then that's fine. :)

Hi! Please help me to choose a new dap. OTG on my phone died so cellphone+portable amp is no longer an option.

    Must have:

    - Ability to adjust channel balance. I have a -2db "hearing loss" in one ear. Just enough to mess up imaging.

    - Price max 500€. I'm ok with buying used. I rather buy better used gear without warranty than new lesser gear.

    - Wifi. I plan on playing music through tidal.

    - Good match for OG Andromeda. So no high output impedance stuff. Zx2 used to be what everyone recommended but I don't know what is the situation today.

    - More power the better. Andros are the priority but would be nice to use fullsize headphones with it too.

    - USB-C charging. I hate micro-usb.

    - No bulging buttons that might get pressed accidentally. I have very bad experinces with Chord Mojo and sudden rise in volume.

    Not that important:

    - battery life. I would use it at home only so charging it frequently is not a problem.

    - Size. It needs to be pocketable so I can walk around the house with it but it can be quite big. I just need to get pants with bigger pockets if that is going to be a problem :D

    - Balanced connection. I have no intrest getting a dozen different balanced cables for all the headphones and iem's

    - storage capacity.

I was allmost decided on Sony zx2 but old non upgradable android with old version tidal is a turnoff.

Doesn't matter. I have no balanced cables yet. If possible I'd rather take se only option if it saves me money and amp is still powerfull enough. Propably only headphone I would need to use balanced is Sash Tres planar. It's quite similar to Verum regarding amplifier demands. Low impedance planar. For example audioquest dragonfly was not enough. But I can live with Sash as a desktop headphone only if needed.

Is there such a think of a $200-$400 closed back headphone that doesn't sound like crap, and will work with tube amps? This is for more funner music like hip-hop/rap and electronic. I don't need TOTL closed back, I'll use Open back for TOTL performance.

Aeon 2 c > Aeon c OG. Better tonal balance and much better staging.

Have you tried any of the Denon/Fostex variants (not the T50RP ones)? They aren't as isolating as you would think a closed back should be, so if that is your priority for closed backs, not sure I can help.

Looking to upgrade headphone amp to a tube or hybrid amp for hd820/hd800s

    Need below specs:
XLR input (to reduce ground loops, PC setup)
Would prefer something not wider than 10", but can be deep
    Under $2000
Could up the budget by $500 if it includes XLR preout with volume control

Couldn't find anything under $3k like this other than schitt mjolnir 2 and heard that is a bit grainy - any thoughts?

I need some wireless in-ears. I'm slowly reprogramming myself to not be a fatass, and I could use some IEMs for walks.

    Preferences, in order of importance:
    1. Smooth, inoffensive treble
    2. Good bass
    3. Dynamic driver preferred (BAs give me a headache)
    4. Less than $300? I don't really have a budget. Nothing stupid.
That's about it. I'd like them to sound pretty good. Anyone have experience with wireless IEMs that aren't garbage?

Does anyone know of a preamp that a) has 1 set balanced in/out b) has HT bypass (either assignable or just an unbalanced in that bypasses volume attenuation) and c) ideally is under $2500? If it wasn’t for that damn HT bypass input I’d get a Freya but having tried going without it just doesn’t work for me. It seems like to check all these boxes my options are either Swiss Army knives likes the PS Audio stellar whatever-the-hell or Parasound, or the top end offerings from primaluna, Rogue, etc which are overkill and make my wallet want to cry. Am I missing something, or does this just not exist?

The Sony Wf-1000m3 might be the ticket depending on their fit for you. Not weather sealed either. However, I think they sound quite good with a tuning like you are looking for. Variable noise cancelling is nice too.

For more intense workouts something with a more secure fit like a Shure se215 with their bluetooth adapter might hold up better, though you will have to deal with some wire at your neck level.

I'm in the same boat, looking for closed-back in the $300-500 range used. Looking for good rhythmic punch and a high end that won't aggravate my tinnitus. My expectations are low for sound-stage in a closed back, but I still need layer separation and some degree of natural timbre on things like snares and vocals.

I have no first-hand experience with any of the Denon/Fostex and wouldn't know where to start with them.

I have only heard the old Denon D2-7000 line and the Fostex TH900, all of which had pretty good bass IIRC (with the TH900 having great bass). They were a little U or V shaped, but though there was a treble emphasis, I don't recall too much harshness in the nicer models. You could start with the Massdrop Fostex line (TR-X00 in various woods) which sit in your price range used. Check out their threads for measurements and descriptions to see if they would fit your listening profile.
