Not all planars behave this way, mate. I remember my HE1000v1 didn't change much when I put my hands over the grill.

I have no idea why this is so. So, I'll let someone with more knowledge than me to chime in.

Personally I can't think of a open baffle that didn't get influenced in a way or another, ofc is not that I am doing that with every open headphone (I edited accordingly) I tried and, as u say, sometimes is not big of a change but I always got it. I only have Verum right now though and the only other I can try is the LCD2.

Anyone else has a different experience of no effect at all?

As @Golmang mentioned, we don't listen to our headphones while holding over the cups anyway. Not a topic of interest to me, and merely for curiosity and nothing else.

If you obstruct the space behind the driver in any way, may this be with damping or just by holding your hand outside an open design, the sound will change, clearly to be seen in any measurement.

Here is my HD800 on my measurement rig:
The overlay shows the effect of my hand held about 5cm away from the back of the cup in the magenta curve...

Just try this if you have a Grado available. Holding your hand close to the opening of the cup will completely alter the 'sound'.

Getting in your feels over a dislike doesn't bode well for you here. I'm the one that disliked your post and the reason I did so was because of course if you cover any open back you will get a change in sound. How much or how little varies but there will be some. You may not like the sound change, but as others have said, no one sits around listening to their open back headphones with their hands over the grill, so it was a silly question to me. Posts around here that are considered silly and unnecessary will usually end up with a dislike or two. But, don't take them so seriously, instead take them as a way of someone here giving you a nudge that your post was a bit of noise. Or don't, entirely up to you.

... but it lowers slightly usability of speakers. No? :)

Actually I meant not to completely cover but keep open palms and slowly change distance between palms and ears. Observe changes in ambient sound.

If covering the grill doesn't change the sound, logically I would think the headphone maker would just make it as closed back since it would have better sound isolation.

I'm not major in physics but I'm guessing it depends how many air were moving when it is being blocked, if not much air moving the blocking wouldn't affect the air hence the sound remain the same.

It was years ago. I remember I gave it a try at the time and found it interesting that I didnt notice much difference. Perhaps there was a difference but not audible to me.

But yeah, I agree. If there is no sound difference at all, could've made a closed-back version.

There's a big difference between covered and airtight, also pendling on if the baffle is vented to any degree.

Thanks for clarification, no hard feelings.

To clarify effect I notice is quite high when listening to audio books, on HD650 the effect did not occur (or was not that strange). It makes impossible to lie on side with headphones.

But yes I agree it is mostly curiosity and in most cases do not apply.

All fully open phones will change to a degree, how much depends on how open it is. Many open headphones could be considered semi open. Mrspeakers Aeon open, LCD-2 and it's siblings are quite closed, change very little. The Hifiman line are more open so change more dramatically to my ears due to the lack of covering over the drivers, they're one of the true open planars, at least how I would judge it. Audeze phones have a perfect seal, that's why they have such a perceived heft in the low bass and can sustain that level even past 20hz. Open dynamics like the HD650 change more obviously, they're very open.

Yeah it would work as the Verum only need 1 channel per connector. But I recommend the L-shaped 3.5mm connectors to ease the pressure.

Some update, Verum have contacted me with the tracking number. Apparently they already ship out the hp last week. It will come with the new pads made of sheep leather and memory foam inside.

Posting your order updates in the forum will likely attract dislikes from people.
This kind of posting is considered as noise around here.

If you want to communicate your excitement you should be using profile posts.
Just click on your name or avatar then click on Profile Page.

It's nice to know that orders are still being processed.
There are a lot of recent customers of Verum who aren't used to waiting for things to be made.
A status update page or series of social posts would go a long way toward calming peoples fears.

I think @mamtacless was just letting us know that he finally heard back from Voldemort, and so following up on posts from the previous page. Though most of the time I will be first in line to bonk people on the head for posting "I just ordered ..." and "Mine are on the way ..."

@mamtacless glad you finally found out what happened with your order. Feel free to post impressions after you get them.

I understand posting order status update is usually frowned upon. When I placed order on April I rely on his update in this forum. But the recent situation have make it impossible for him to give any update here and he didn't do update on any other English speaking forum that I know of. And no reply from him even after I wrote at his site's Contact page doesn't help either. So when he finally contact me with the update I thought I'll update here too for other fellow SBAF that waiting for their order and also I don't want to give impression that my situation is still hanging at unable to get into contact with him. Thank you for the tip on using profile post.

Thanks! Will do it once I have a good amount of time with the can, though from reading all others review I'm sure I will be satisfy with it.

Recently received my Verum’s (finally after around a 7 week ship time) and I am very impressed with their build quality.

Although my iPhone drives them to a decent level, I am looking forward to listening to them fully balanced via the Jot/Modius combo. I expect a very nice pairing.

Mine just arrived a few minutes ago. Also took about 7 weeks. Holy crap build quality is super solid and the leather pads are really soft IMG_20200921_145338.jpg

I saw a thread about the ZMF Pilot and ZMF Co-pilot...
Does any of you use it on the Verum?

    Which one should fit?

    Thank you
