I love my RME, but it's not a true interface if I wanted to use a mic.

I currently use the RME as a dac/headphone amp for casual listening from the PC. I also use it as a DAC for my Mogwai headphone tube amp. I got the Pro because I intend on fixing up my turntable and running TT to phono prestage to ADI-2 PRO out to Mogwai. In that regard, the ADI-2 is acting like a pre-amp for the Turntable. I do like that it has a remote.

I'd like to have an interface with mic preamp, but consolidated as much as possible; I value a clean setup on the desk. I would be giving up the remote functionality if I wanted to sit back and listen to turn tables through speakers, but I would like to be able to use the interface of the Prism.

Thanks for the quick reply.. sorry about asking advice in the other thread.

Trying to get both mic and phono pres in the same interface... I'm digging around on sweetwater and it looks like Arturia AudioFuse is the only one that comes up.

sorry I might have misspoken. I have a phono pre. I just meant I currently use the ADI 2 pro as a preamp for volume control instead of the volume pot on my tube amp.

I love the quality of the ADI-2 PRO but it’s still in the return window so I could get the prism Lyra for essentially the same amount and have the interface functionality as the ADI-2 PRO and Babyface Pro.

Reading your post on head-fi though, I didn’t realize how large the Lyra is so perhaps I wouldn’t be saving much desk space going with the Lyra instead of the two RME products

Oh, yeah the Lyra is larger than the ADI-2 Pro and Babyface put together.
Do you need all the added functions of the ADI-2 Pro? Can you get by with just the Babyface?

I mainly wanted a high end dac/headphone amp/ and analog to digital for integration with the turntable.

Admittedly the interface is only going to be used for gaming with a mic input and mixing game/voice sound levels. I suppose I could get a cheaper interface. I just want a high end headphone amp and dac.

I'm planning to buy a new set of phones. Its down to Beyerdynamic DT-990s pro 250ohm. They have some good reviews, good build quality, look very comfortable. Lastly I see there are two types. pro and premium which have a large price difference. Anyone experienced with these to comment on the differences? Even Byers website is not clear on this. Are the premiums worth over $100 more than the pros?

also the dt990 pro 250 ohm have better bass , better mids and clear sound from DT 990 250 ohm Premium is is true??

some people say that The Pros have slightly more bass and less treble, but the frequency response curve is already plenty V-shaped on the Premiums.

also some people say that the premium offer plenty of oomf and crisper highs, resulting in a fun and open sound. The Pros are a bit less roomy and can sound a tad muddled on less well-mixed tracks.

do y believe that the premium have more plenty of oomf and crisper highs and biger soundstage from pros/??

the premium is more v-shaped from pros/??

which is better Beyerdynamic DT-990s 250ohm pro or Beyerdynamic DT-990s 250ohm premium edition?

I wish the Tygr 300R was in stock. Apparently that is a 990 driver as well. Once I can get all the models, I will do a round up on the 990s like I did the 880. Not bc I like them, but bc I think a lot of people want to know.

Unfortunately, the only advice I can give you now is speculative. I would buy the pro. I once tried the premium 600 ohm and the treble was effectively the same as shoving ice picks into my skull. If someone says the pro is less treble - amen.

    Good luck.

@jim2030 , I've also read that Beyers have some bad quality control with mismatched drivers. Welcome to SBAF.

If I were you, I'd get a Fostex TH-X00. Lots of bass. It would help to know about the rest of your equipment, though.

Is there a reason you want the DT990? Might help to explain what kind of sound you are looking for, what audio gear you have, and how you plan to use the headphone. Also, what’s your budget?

**Just noticed you added the post above

I’d recommend something like the Fostex TH-X00 but those aren’t readily available.

**btw you can edit a post instead of creating a new post just to say “I don’t know what to do”. It’s better forum etiquette.
