Its fine, just wanted to know I was ordering the right thing :)

Le Edit: got the 502DAC for my gran's classical in the living room done, and my bedroom one with the Pi Display. CBA to do the third today, there's always another day. RoopieeXL on all.

If anyone feeds a pi2design streamer with SMPS, you may find my post in the noise nuke thread to be interesting. Decided it's more appropriate to leave it there. To boil it down - power supply matters. Proper LC filtering brought some nice improvements to the system.

Michael, thank you for clarification under my post! It’s great that pi2aes is kind of “plug and play” - has more filtering on input and therefore less sensitive on PSUs. I’ll likely order one for my friends’ system with meanwell.

Is it okay to plug my 5V PSU with the noise nuke to the +5V power rail directly if I’d like to experiment? I mean just theoretically, I’ll carry all responsibility for any practical consequences so to speak :pirate07:

You should be fine. There is a 5V TVS that triggers at 5.8V to protect the circuitry.

PS Audio is supposed to send my PWD Mk II back this week and I just built/am running my server tonight! I can be one of your first customers for the adapter...

Atomicbob's Noise Nuke is fine. Just a couple of caps and a choke. Should be fine.

However if it helps, YMMV. It really depends on the amount of ripple from the supplied power supply and how much the nuke is filtering that.

Just received the new toy yesterday and setup is really easy... except peeling the protective sheet off from the case specially on the logo engraving area.

Unfortunately, my amp is having problem with "caps" and required repair which won't happen for another month. However, I was able to connect to my good old Meridian 566.20 and all lights fired up which is a good sign that everything is working.

Complain: I need to file an official complain. Those led light are so bright it's catching wife's attention. Lol. Are the light controllable by any scripts? Can it be turn off by any command? I recall I read it somewhere it's not controllable but going to ask again if anyone come up with a solution before I put some electric tape over it.

I am sorry, really sorry! :( Tape is still the best solution.

... or hiding the Pi2AES assembly at the back of the gear rack, as I do ;)

@Michael Kelly I just received the same package at my door a minute ago again. What should I do with the extra?

Lol. Nope. We need to support all the small businesses and make sure the good ones can be successful. Please buy it from Michael. :)

    1. I used the black plastic "pick" that came in an iFixit kit. Very sharp plastic point can "push" or scrape the tiny protective paper pieces from the letters.

    2. I am using a power strip "enclosure" to kind of hide the unit.

I can fit the Grace SDAC/SDAC-B in there or other small DACs. Not too hot due to lots of openings for cables and basically foamcore so wireless is okay.

Pi land is notoriously cheap but it’d be cool to have a sleek machined aluminum case with power routed to the back of the case for somewhat wider tidiness. I have mine in an hdplex h1 which is cool and looks like evil alien tech but is a lot bigger than it needs to be as it originally had an lps in it. I think I paid $175 as a point of reference but it’s intended for htpc use so had a lot of parts I didn’t use.

@haywood those things have the same issues as the pi metal cases, they kill WiFi signal. :(

I don't see why the pi has to be close to the dac or hifi at all - digital signal - so I hide them under/behind furniture, except the one in my bedroom with the touchscreen.

lmao... very creative solutions on hiding the Pi2AES. Copper tape one is really funny. I was just thinking to spray paint the interior of the case to black, so it looks glossy black from outside and put electric tape over the holes for the lights. I will post pic when I get around to do it.
