Your shelf game is strong! I know you said you had someone build the shelves on the desk, did they also do the ones underneath or are you adding and doing those yourself based on what you need? Very cool though!

No, you misinterpreted (I'll check if I implied something), I built all of this.

What I was mentioning on the upper shelves, is the 45 cuts I did were with a rip saw, before I had the bench dual bevel miter saw, so I couldn't get perfect angles. I am reminded of it when I look at it, but I don't want to move everything off, disassemble, recut and put it back together. I built this from plywood, IKEA solid wood butcher block countertops and misc. hardware.

I started out finishing the tops. I then added plywood ends/legs, backs and then worked on the central leg/supports. Then the shelves underneath. I wanted all the power strips, etc. underneath but not cluttering the floor. Last I made the upper shelves. I knew I wanted the daigonal running down to the inside area and then the rest of it. I just added a couple mini shelves on the inside for the router (under the cable modem and NFS) and SSD (above the Freya+).

Ahhh yes I must have misinterpreted it sorry! Thats really impressive though! Its really nice, is this just a hobby or do you actually do wood work and furniture building as a career?

Thank you. Its just a hobby. I needed to replace the old desk unit and really wanted something with nice wood.

Made some minor changes, swapped out the Samsung soundbar with an LG one because the LG soundbar kept clipping with my HTPC in the living room. Plugged it into my main rig (I'm retired, so my main rig is a gaming rig, though I do help out my brother doing some 'paperwork' for him from time to time.

Also bought a couple of headphone hangers which can be mounted using both double-sided tape and screws (for a more secure mount, using double-sdied tape isn't secure enough as it might drop off unexpectedly). The under table mount is so secure, I ain't afraid to hang my higher end cans on them as well.

I've also swapped out my cheap mechanical RGB keyboard for a Topre RealForce 55G keyboard, with yellow PBT keycaps. Als there is a new vertical mouse that was just delivered yesterday, and yes, it had to be RGB.

Added a proper chair, gave the generic China made chair to a friend, so I guess I'm now all set for long gaming sessions with the upcoming release of Serious Sam 4, and Cyberpunk later this year.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the speaker system thread or this one, but I figure that since it's my desk and I still use my PC for gaming at times it would be a better fit here. Gaming is also the main reason I have a CRT.
This is my secondary speaker system. It's at the other end of the room for my main system: post, album.
This corner of the room is acoustically quite bad, especially with the asymmetry in the desk depth and the celing above the left speaker. Because of that I've resorted to EQ pretty much ever since I put speakers here.
I cycled through cheap widebanders, but found none that would work for me. The uneven off-axis response and general response irregularities are a dealbreaker for me when listened at such a short distance. The drivers are about 75cm from my ears the way I normally sit. These are the 'HSB DreiZwo Sat'. They are a three way with a side-mounted 6" woofer. I've specifically been looking for the older variant of these speakers for a while now for the OOP Omnes CX 3.0 coax, which has been replaced by a model with a less linear midrange part. After months of searching and almost giving up I finally found the Sat-variant, which is just perfect for me. It's quite a good sounding speaker (if a little bright tonally) and will serve as a baseline for my own construction.
Unfortunately for me the right speaker has a semi-blown tweeter which is a little lower in level and measures with a bit more third order distortion. I am going to get replacement drivers and in the meantime I use EQ to correct the channel balance. I also now use EQ to correct the excess phase from the crossover, at least down to the midbass region to limit the latency to 10ms.

IMO when one already uses EQ to correct the frequency response there's really no reason not to use linear phase filters to correct the phase response. I used RePhase to generate the IR file for the convolution (based on measurements I took in REW) and use Equalizer APO to apply it. Evidently HEDD made a .VST plugin which does the same thing for their speakers. People seem to almost universally both hear a difference and prefer the corrected version. I find you get much better imaging and cohesiveness this way.

The speakers I want to build are going to be larger than these in order to put the coax at ear height and for improved bass response. I have some other ideas which may or may not work, but truthfully these speakers are already quite good for the purpose they serve. At this point I'm not even sure if it's worth pouring a lot of money into slightly better speakers for my desk when I have my large OBs which will sound a lot better anyway. I do think these cheap coaxial drivers are something special and don't need to hide from the KEFs at all. In fact these arguably have a smoother tweeter response and they're much more resolving and lively than I expected. More resolving than the widebanders I've tried. They really deserve a better amp than this Technics my dad doesn't need anymore.
I put two additional images in an imgur album. The frequency response I went for was linearized with measurements first and then I tweaked it by ear. That means the 5dB rolloff at 20kHz is intentional and IMO it sounds better this way. I boosted the subbass a bit which with most music these speakers handle surprisingly well. No subwoofer yet and I'm not sure I ever want to add a sub. I haven't heard one subwoofer implementation that I liked. Normally I would just turn them off.

I've been using this one with an ikea top for 7 months. It's incredibly sturdy and works great.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Seems pricey but I guess get what you pay for? I assume it's rock stable at standing height?

Yes, one can even sit on these desks while running the motors.

@dubharmonic Does the Xdesk Terra you're using have a crossbar support? How stable is it when fully extended?

I'm looking at standing desks now as well and finding that at the heights I'd need to use when standing (6' 3" tall, so 45"+ on the desk) there's lots of instability from the typical players like Autonomous, Uplift and BTOD.

Edit: Who knew there could be so much drama in the standing desk industry?

Yes, it has the crossbar, here's a pic (getting ready to repaint and refloor so it's kind of a mess)

I'm 6'6" so I have the desk fully extended at 50.8". It's very stable.

I just built an Uplift V2 commercial to replace my Fully Jarvis Bamboo. I like both of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, finally finished mine, so... here it is:

Not the cleanest, but I find it meets all of my needs. Under desk treadmill is probably my favorite part. I should have done this much earlier!

Why did you move to the Uplift? I am rocking a V1 Bekant from IKEA from 5 years ago and it still works fine, though isn't as stable as I'd like now that I leathercraft. Was looking at the Jarvis since it has a much larger lifting capacity.

Just finished updating the home office, as many are, given the circumstances.

Burlap coffee bags stretched over wooden frames are surprisingly good at stopping audio reflections. The bags are from coffee that I've roasted.
