I have been watching "UPLOAD" on Amazon. It is light and fun. I enjoy watching the cultural repercussions of Science Fiction concepts like Larry Nivens writing in the Ringworld series.

Just watched the latest episode of Billionaire on Showtime. I think it is the series I most enjoy compared to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Hoping we have another season of BCS next year. Another gem on Showtime is Homeland. Not as good as Billionaire but still good to binge watch. I am a fan of cop shows and if you liked The Wire give The Closer and Major Crimes a watch. Both very binge worthy.

Both episodes of Laurel Canyon Season 1 are streaming on EPIX right now. It's worth signing up for the one week free trial through Prime Video just to watch it. Got a perfect 100% score at Rotten Tomatoes.

I know probably nobody here watches it, but just finished watching 13 Reasons Why Season 4. It was pretty garbage imho, found it to be super disjointed, no real consequences for anything, poor representation of topics trying to be discussed, and overall a waste of a season. Wish they would have just ended it with S3, would have been a better wrap up rather than what they did this season.

I really liked Counterpart on Prime. Bosch is also well regarded.

Right now, finding Queen's Gambit on Netflix to be good.

I just re watched the first season of Watchmen and find it most entertaining. So dark, weird, and almost goofy at times... a second season must happen!

So many excellent series available now that one could stay immersed in amazing story land escapism as much as desired and more likely impossible to see it all even if you are a single childless person who's goal it is to watch EVERYTHING. haha

Some others I have enjoyed in recent years:
    Ozark
    The Expanse
    Wayne
    Fringe
    Orphan Black
    True Detective
    Fargo
    Boardwalk Empire
    Westworld
    Utopia
    Carnival Row

Okay I'll stop... for now... you get the idea...

Totally agree about COUNTERPART (a real acting festival) and QUEEN'S GAMBIT. Both are quite compelling, high-concept episodic TV IMO.

I can strongly recommend these Netflix shows. If you can handle subtitles--and dark, tense content--give them a try:

DEADWIND: A terrific police procedural from Finland. Finnish may be the strangest language ever...when people talk it sounds like they're gargling motor oil. The 2 main characters are memorable & well written, while some plot developments really surprise. I loved this show & was delighted when a 2nd season came along. Ever hear the term "Nordic noir?" Well, this is it.

STRANGER: This sub-titled Korean procedural drama (featuring prosecutors & cops) received one of the highest IMDB ratings ever saw for a series, so I tried it—and immediately became hooked. It takes part of an episode to get used to the odd speech & interpersonal rhythms of South Korea, but after that it really takes off. This series may be the best TV I've seen in the past 5 years. Check out the fiesty policewoman...my favorite character here.

BLACK SPOT: Indescribable—a French policier that takes place deep in the Pyrennes, one of the gloomiest, darkest places in the world. The forest is a character in every story. Naturally, bad things happen, one after the other. Each episode is like a bad dream (that's high praise).

We Are the Champions (Netflix). Great stuff. Cheese rolling really is an extreme sport.

By now I've subscribed to Prime Video & watched seasons 1-3; currently 3 episodes into season-4. I agree that Welliver plays Bosch with anger--distinctly more than is present in the source books.

I'm fascinated by the differences between books & this dramatization: Harry Bosch of the books is considerably older, more weathered, less angry unless provoked, and more doggedly strategic. That Bosch definitely is out of step with department brass, but he was out of step with authorities in school & the military, as well. In the book, Bosch's deviant streak is more attitudinal than physical.

Nevertheless, the issue of fidelity to sources becomes moot after awhile, partly because author Michael Connelly is involved in this production--and even more, because this series is so involving and well done in every way.

There are some truly amazing performances here, particularly Lance Riddick as top cop and Jamie Hector as Bosch's partner. And the cinematography is superb: this is the best lit & shot Los Angeles I've ever seen, and that is saying something. as L.A. has had a starring role in so many fine films & series.
