P.S I was only asking for it to be shipped to the US and I was very much aware of the fact that it was just the IEMs - no tips, no packaging, no cables - which is what I explained in the DM

MODDED Audio Technica ADX5000 $1100
Shipped USA, Friends & Contributors. Couple cracks where the screws meet the baffle assembly but it is secure and no rattling or sonic effect. Might be difficult to remove those screws if you decide to do so. Fair warning. Ships in the AT carrying box, which is very nice. Includes original 1/4" cable.

Mods include dynamat on rear magnet assembly and melamine vent stuffing (no measurable effect but tightens things up and evens out the bottom half a bit). HD800 SBAF-approved rug liner on the front (helps smoothen treble). Stock pads + 'plush pad' (lowers treble and brings out more bass). @captkirk has heard this modded headphone as-is, and it was also at the meet at @ChaChaRealSmooth 's place before lockdown. Ask me for pics of the cracks (not visible unless you remove the pads) and FR measurements. Very, very nice with OTL amps.

This is a lovely high-impedance headphone that feels like what an HD700 was meant to be - nearly HD800 like stage, very lively dynamics, crisp on top, touch of midbass emphasis. This was the headphone that got me into modding dynamics pre-TH900.

I don't know who built these beautiful burled rings, but I got them from @MisterRogers. They definitely look handmade and have had a few touch-ups over minor cracks and to allow space for the cable leads. I'll take more pics soon. They are stable and don't rattle and sound as they should. Solid rings really tighten things up vs the hollow plastic of the OGs. There are some half-baked damping mods on there I never got around to polishing up after the transplant - I can revert back to stock (blank front and rear driver face) at request or leave it as-is. Easily reversible on your end. Lost interest and don't see myself coming back to HFM. DM me for more pics if interested. I'll toss in a pair of lambskin pads.

 

Bump. I'll trade anything on this listing for a TH900 in any condition as well - no cash on either end. It'd be an upgrade for us both I did find a 4-pin XLR cable for the HE6 I'll toss in, though I doubt that was a dealbreaker for anyone. Heck, if you're a well known Friend, you can even split up payments if you want to purchase outright. I just want to see this stuff go.

Decided I'm going to give my woody HE6 one last chance before selling and try a totally new modding approach with tweaks only to the rear side of the driver inspired by planar-related musings from @rhythmdevils . In the mean time, removed all mods aside from rug liner and tried some new pads (I have a lot of new stuff to try given some new knowledge and materials gained from TH900 modding). Promising results so far -

@rhythmdevils If I can't get them where I want them by the end of next week, do you have a speaker amp that can drive them? I'd be open to sending them your way for an indefinite loaner if you want to play with them or until someone wants to buy em.

 

Tia Fourte SOLD! Final price was $900. I might keep the ADX for a bit longer too now that I've broken even on the cost of my most recent big purchase.
