One of the two survivors of the Ampocalypse, this was lent out for review & I just got it back.

For recent opinions on this amp read https://www.superbestaudiofriends.o...oo-audio-wa6-se-review-and-measurements.9897/ The amp Marv reviewed in that thread is this specific unit.

I picked this up used in 2018, very good physical condition, 8 of 10 for age only. No scratches, marks, scuffs, see images. All inputs working & outputs working fine; level matched to > 1dB by my measurements (can vary with tubes); good balanced pot action throughout.

This comes with the umbilical cable, a power cord, a Woo 596 to 5U4G adapter, and the following the USED tubes listed below. Tubes are NOT guaranteed to be NOS but this is a great selection for someone who wants to try out various flavors.

Ships in original box, will be double boxed. Tubes ship separately.

Sale is to FRIENDS ONLY right now, price is $900 to me which includes UPS ground shipping in CONUS. Buyer covers any PP fees. Is this doesn't sell in a week or so I'll open the sale up to everyone.

Please PM me with any questions.

Hopefully not too off topic, but did you hear a drastic difference in sound with the CBS, Westinghouse, or Sylvania 5U4G vs the RCAs or Raytheons?

I don't hear drastic differences among them, no. Of the ones above the CBS-Hytron sounds smoother to my ear.

Now throw a U52 on there, definite improvement IMO

Some of the earlier RCAs can be really nice. Otherwise, the brands to look for amongst NOS 5u4g are Tungsol and Kenrad.
U52 is what I use but I doubt would buy it at its current market price.

The Hytron is about on par with the Tungsol in this amp. I usually put them both above the KenRad but its amp specific, I havent tried them here.

For fun I'll add a JAN CKR KenRad and a Tungstol to this deal for people interested in hearing them, that about another $100 or more value

Sounds like it's not worth the hunt then. The Tung-Sol and earlier RCAs sound about the same to me (only in Stellaris though). Minor differences with Raytheons. Later RCA had minor differences as well but not huge. Had a CBS-Hytron at some point but somehow can't find it - I don't remember how it sounded but that by itself probably means it was also pretty similar.

Haven't tried the KenRads and will have to look into the U52s.

Is that the top getter or bottom getter Tungsol? I prefer the top getter Tungsol by quite a bit.
