I placed an order myself for another Pi2AES, PS, and the 7-inch display case. After finally receiving the package through my local USPS black hole, I was dismayed to realize I didn't receive the acrylic case or the adapter for the PS. Luckily, I received an extra PS adapter awhile back and I managed to find it. This is the fourth time I’ve ordered from @Michael Kelly and I never had something like this happen. I suspect he and his crew are super busy with the crush of free case orders plus regular orders. I recently had a problem with my original Pi2AES and Michael was fast to respond and got me a replacement Pi2AES out quickly. I would follow the advice above and just contact [email protected]
I emailed and know Michael and his team will take care of everyone, but we all just need to be patient and understanding. They are a small business after all and it is a strange time we’re living in.

You need a 7" correct? Not sure what happened, but I've been saying that a lot lately. :(

I’m doing a free trial of Roon right now and I installed Roon Bridge on my Volumio. Roon recognizes the device and will stream to it but I get no sound. I have no problem playing local tracks from an HHD nor UPNP from Jriver. Any trouble shooting recommendations?

Did you go into Roon settings and select your endpoint device? What device does Roon detect?

I selected Volumio as the endpoint device, and the IP address listed is correct.

If you go into Roon settings do you see more than one Volumio “device”? Try selecting the ALSA version.

You need to go into Settings > Audio and enable the end point. It was confusing for me and I didn't know what I was doing. I had 5 items named bcm2835 and I tried one of them it worked (here I had renamed it to "Pi2AES"). My DAC Model is set to HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro which might be the reason for the multiple choices.

Thanks @Metro and @Gaspasser! I’m not in front of the computer right now so I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I notice Airplay isn’t working either so it may be a Volumio issue. I will continue troubleshooting when I can.

The easiest solution is to dump Volumio and get Ropieee XL. It does Roon and Spotify, etc

I’m open to that but only if Ropieee XL will also play locally stored files on a hard drive.

I don’t know if Ropieee handles attached hard drives. That’s the magic of Roon, just keep your files on your Roon core computer or NAS, everything is controlled through the app.

It does not. It's a pure endpoint setup, even in the XL version.

What I do in these situations while experimenting with different configurations is to have a few micro SD cards with different software (moOde, Ropieee, ...) and test things out by swapping them.

Of Volumio, RoPieeeXL, and Moode, it seems like only Volumio makes supporting Roon, AirPlay, and local playback "easy", and even then I couldn't get it to actually make sound earlier today when I was experimenting. Had the hifiberry digi+ pro driver selected but never got hint of SPDIF out. But it's definitely possible with Volumio because the Pi2AES loaner is sitting here doing it all just fine.

Whenever you set the playback option to a particular DAC card with volumio you may have to reset and select and save multiple times as many as four or five times I have seen myself! I have no clue why it does not maintain the information. so just keep selecting and saving at least five times before you give up.

I am just about to order Pi2AES and my plan to "build" the Pi2AES based player is pretty simple. I am planning to remove Hifiberry DIgi+ Pro, move Rpi 3B, already running and a Hifiberry OS with one app only, Roon Endpoint, to the Pi2AES supplied case, put the Pi2AES on top ..and ...I hope to be done at this point? I read somewhere ,maybe in this thread, that
any system that already worked with Digi+ Pro should recognize Pi2AES as an audio device.
What is driving me crazy id 3-4 weeks wait!

Good advice for a bad problem. Setting it to the wrong driver, rebooting, then setting it to the right driver again, and then rebooting, seems to have worked.
