SPL Phonitor One

At $499 this looks like an interesting product from SPL. Anyone try it yet?

 

Did see this. SPL discontinued the Phonitor E and looks like they added this as the replacement.

First thing that immediately popped out to me is the difference in power output. In the past, SPL made their lower end amplifiers have similar amplifier sections to the flagship models. In this case they have a major drop in power output on the Phonitor One.

They replaced the phonitor E with the phonitor se, which doesn't have balanced inputs or outputs. This seems to really be the entry model without the voltair rails.

 

Haven't looked at SPL for ages (and one of the great things about the full model is... looking at it!) --- seems there is a d model with dac too.

 

SPL has changed them all around feature wise. Have put mine to work breaking in IEMs.
As the OP noted, there is a real cheapo entry model that also does not have the good amp in it.
They still make my Phonitor e. If you don't need VU meters, its a great choice to save a bit of money.
